Biography

Former world famous Nuyorican Poets Café slam team member, Ainsley Burrows, is a three-time recipient of the Farrago London Poetry Award for best international performer. Frankfurt, Munich, Copenhagen and London are places he’s won poetry slams. Ainsley dabbled in poetry through high school and college while growing up in Jamaica. A near-fatal accident caused him to re-evaluate his life so while studying for an MBA, he quit academia to write full-time. Ainsley has read at notable universities and colleges worldwide such as Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton and NYU. He’s performed at the renowned Apollo theater, featured at the Wordstock Festival in New York, the Lancaster Literature Festival, and Norwich Jazz Festival in the UK. He is the author of Black Angels with Sky Blue Feathers and The Woman who Isn't Was. Ainsley has also released four albums. He resides in New York, has recently completed his first novel, and is working on his first screenplay.
