THE SKY WAS THE BLUEST IN YOUR EYES,
A BLUE LIKE NOTHING THAT I’D EVER SEEN,
NOT EVEN IN MY TECHNICOLOR DREAMS.
THE SUN GLOWED ALL AROUND YOU,
LIKE YOU WERE DROPPED FROM HEAVEN.
I CURSE THE DAY THE TELEGRAM CAME AND SAID THAT YOU HAD DIED.

NOW I DON’T KNOW IF I’LL SEE BLUE AGAIN. I DON’T KNOW IF I’LL SEE THE SUN.
I KNOW I WON’T BE SEEING YOU AGAIN . . .

SO MANY YEARS TOGETHER, WE WERE INSEP'RABLE.,
I STILL RECALL THE NIGHT WE DANCED AND TRADED HIGH SCHOOL RINGS.
THEN YOU WERE OLD ENOUGH, TO FIGHT FOR FLAG AND COUNTRY,
I CURSE THE DAY THE TELEGRAM CAME AND SAID THAT YOU HAD DIED.

I KNOW I WON’T BE SEEING BLUE EYES AGAIN. I KNOW I’LL NEVER SEE YOUR SUN.
I KNOW I WON’T BE SEEING YOU AGAIN . . . HOW MANY SOLDIERES HAVE TO DIE..

HOW CAN I TELL THIS ONE YEAR OLD BABY IN MY ARMS,
HER SOLDIER WON’T BE COMING HOME..
GOD KNOWS I’D GIVE ANYTHING TO, HEAR YOU CALL MY NAME,
I CURSE THE DAY THE TELEGRAM CAME AND SAID THAT YOU HAD DIED.

I KNOW I WON’T BE SEEING BLUE EYES AGAIN. I KNOW I’LL NEVER SEE YOUR SUN.
I KNOW I WON’T BE SEEING YOU AGAIN . . . HOW MANY MORE TEARS CAN I CRY.

I WON’T EVER BE SEEING BLUE EYES AGAIN. I KNOW I’LL NEVER FEEL YOUR SUN.
I WON’T EVER BE SEEING YOU AGAIN . . . HOW MANY SOLDIERS HAVE TO DIE.

HOW MANY FATHERS HAVE TO DIE. HOW MANY MOTHERS HAVE TO DIE..
HOW MANY MORE SOLDIERS HAVE TO, DIE. . . . . HOW MANY MORE..

The Road

I’M NOT REALLY GONE, I’M ONLY KIND OF OUT OF SIGHT,
I KEEP YOUR PICTURE CLOSE ‘CAUSE IT HELPS ME THROUGH THE NIGHT.
THE LETTERS YOU SEND ARE LIKE A WINDOW WITH A LIGHT,
THEY SHORTEN THE DISTANCE THAT CAME INTO OUR LIFE.

IT WASN’T AS THOUGH THE CHOICE WAS CONSCIOUS WHEN IT CAME
I HAD TO GO CHASING, THESE THINGS MY HEART DREAMED.
AND ALL THE MIS-STEPS AND HEARTACHES WE WENT THROUGH
HAVE HELPED ME TO APPRECIATE WHEN THE ROAD LEADS BACK TO YOU.

I’M CHASING MY DREAMS ON THE ROAD IN THE SPOTLIGHTS.
CAN YOU HEAR THE AUDIENCE CALLING OUT MY NAME .
I’M LIVING MY LIFE ON THE ROAD IN THE SPOTLIGHTS.

YOUR VOICE ON THE PHONE, THE SOUND IS OH SO BITTER SWEET,
A DISTANT REMINDER OF A FACE I HAVE NOT SEEN.
AND ALL OF OUR CONVERSATIONS, THEY SEEM TO END THE SAME,
I TELL YOU I LOVE YOU AND YOU SAY YOU STILL MISS ME.

THE DAYS AND THE WEEKS HAVE TURNED TO MONTHS AND THEN A YEAR.
IF THE ROAD DOESN’T END US, WE’RE STRONGER MY DEAR..
I THANK YOU FOR NOT ASKING ME TO LET IT GO,
TO MAKE A CHOICE BETWEEN TWO LOVES, I’D WANT TO NEVER KNOW.

MY ONLY HOPE IS THAT THE COST IS NOT TOO HIGH.
‘CAUSE NOTHING MEANS ANYTHING WITHOUT YOU IN MY LIFE.
I STILL BELIEVE ON ALL THE COLD AND DARKEST NIGHTS,
WE’LL BE TOGETHER GIVE ME SOME TIME .

I’M LIVING MY LIFE ON THE ROAD IN THE SPOTLIGHTS.
CAN YOU HEAR THE AUDIENCE CALLING OUT MY NAME.
I’M CHASING MY DREAMS ON THE ROAD IN THE SPOTLIGHTS.
‘ND RIGHT BEFORE I TAKE THE STAGE, I THINK ABOUT YOUR FACE.
I’M LIVING MY LIFE ON THE ROAD IN THE SPOTLIGHTS.
I CAN HEAR THE AUDIENCE CALLING OUT, CALLING OUT,
CALLING OUT MY NAME ON THE ROAD, IN THE SPOTLIGHTS.
CAN YOU HEAR THE AUDIENCE CALLING OUT, CALLING OUT,
CALLING OUT MY NAME.ON THE ROAD IN THE SPOTLIGHTS.
I CAN HEAR THE AUDIENCE CALLING OUT, CALLING OUT, CALLING OUT MY NAME.

This Town

Written By: Bart Aspenlieder

I'm stuck in a dusty, dirt-stop town
about a hundred miles from the middle of no where.
Its a damn near perfect place to get away if you like furnace hot air and coyotes for your neighbors.
I've had it up to here with dust storms and three hundred days of wind.
I had a five year plan but its year plan but its year fifteen.
Dont want to have to spend another three hundred and sixty five,
I'd sell my soul to get a break and get out of this town alive.
I've got to get out of this town.
There's got to be a better place.
I've got to get out of this town.
This town town has a way of sucking all the life right through your pores, like sweat runs down, runs down your forehead.
It feels like a million miles away from ev'rything I ever took the time to think or even dream of.
Ive got to find me a way.
There's something out there calling me.
In five years I'm not sure where I'll be,
but I know that this town's not for me
I've got to make my break so I can breathe.
I've got to get out of this town.
There's got to be a better place.
I've got to get out of this town.
