Bio

At this time Airfare are aiming upwards. In two years they have put out two fabulous albums "Hotel Moscow" and "Do You Like My Shit?" and are fired up to be playing live. The name "Airfare", meaning the price for plane tickets, also serves as a description in the bands "airy-ness" or "lightness".
Perspective is an advantage point for the band as the leader is an American singer/songwriter and guitar player Thomas J. Lichtag. This man has rock 'n' roll in his blood, he doesn't even have to try, and his singing has a fun perspective to it even when he's singing: "Life is easy, baby." Thomas's origins are in the Czech Republic. His parents left for the USA in the 70's and since then established a life there.
He started forming the lineup of musicians 3 years ago. " We are from all corners of the Czech Republic, everyone has a musical history. I was looking for players that felt music the same way that i do. A band's style doesn't rely on solos but in the way that it comes across during a live performance. We would like to accomplish a very original and recognizable sound, that's why it's better to start simple. We will develop over time, we are only 20 years old. We simply want to be a good rock band, perfect in sound, but not sterile." The lineup consists of players on an equivalent level- bass Tomas Vitasek - guitar Lukas Chromek - drums Richard Scheufler.
The debut album "Hotel Moscow" is filled with music taken straight from the streets and immediately Airfare's pilot single "Sorry Baby" topped the Czech music charts. The next two singles also faired very well and newly acquired fans were ecstatic. This resulted in the band taking home a "Best New Band" award at the Czech music channel Ocko's annual awards ceremony, Song placement in a major Czech film production "O zivot", an award from OSA ( Society for the Protection of the Rights of Music Authors and Publishers) for the Most Successful Young Author, an award for Best Song from the music magazine FILTER and etc.
Full of energy, Airfare put out their second album "Do You Like My Shit?" which is followed by extensive promo throughout clubs and festivals. Their top notch single "School" is recognized again as a hit and the boys again gain publicity. In the present time Airfare are finishing a video for their second single (Collapse) from the above-mentioned album.
Airfare is one of the few Czech bands that have the potential to take their music successfully beyond the border and various Intermittent concerts confirmed that that they can draw the attention of a wider audience. Evidence of this were successful concerts at Italian festivals, shows with The Rasmus in the role of support band on their EU tour, a spring Arena tour in Slovakia, and also a recent appearance at Europavox in France. Another piece of exceptional news for the band is a release of their single "Sorry Baby" on the Russian compilation "Listen To The Future", where it gained surprisingly positive feedback. The band is attempting to promote it's music as much as it can in the foreign market, and is collaborating as efficiently as possible with foreign media and promoters.
What else? This band specializes in creating an explosive atmosphere around itself, yet at the same time the listener isn't overwhelmed. Live shows consist of a sharp guitar sound, catchy melodies, unexpected dynamic changes, and a wild stage show.
