Aisha Raine's alt/rock debut album, "Never Broken" blends fervent sounds and edgy lyrics creating soul riveting music. Inspired by bands like Linkin Park, Evanescence, Paramore, and Breaking Benjamin; Aisha aims to prove that race and gender do not determine your genre, that "Black Chicks CAN Rock!"

Biography

Fighting stereotypes and resisting societal pressure, Aisha Raine is striving to shake up the world of rock. The DC area native has had to fend off criticism and fight expectations in an industry where few black females dare to venture into other genres. Now with the release of her debut album, Never Broken, Aisha Raine has declared that, Black Chicks CAN Rock!

Always striving to be herself and never afraid to venture into the unknown, Aisha Raine releases an alt/rock album that defies conventional expectations for a young, black female artist. She has kept to what is true to hera style that embraces a sharp edge, hard truths, and a more-than-once broken heart. Ive always tried to do whats right by me and not what others believe is best, says Aisha. With rock, I found a way to truly express the difficulties that Ive had to struggle with in life.

The album title, Never Broken, says Aisha, represents my soul. There are cracks and scars, but Im still standing. The fervently concocted sound, blended with often edgy but always strong lyrics, creates a sound palette with different shades of rock. Ranging from nu-metal to pop/rock, pushing on hard rock, and fused with the modern rock flare, Never Broken is an open window into the heart, mind and soul of this singer/songwriter.

Though shed gladly welcome fame and fortune, her main focus is creating music that matters and can help strengthen the souls of those who listen. Connecting with others who have been through similar pain and letting them know they arent alone would be the greatest success, says Aisha. And Never Broken does just that. Each of the 11 songs is crafted to connect with the souls of others. Too many of us go through stressful situations and feel that no one understands. A lot of music out there speaks of love and happiness, but what some need are songs that let us know we are not alone suffering with lifes battles, says Aisha. Sometimes knowing someone else understands and can relate is just what you need to keep you going.

Aishas songs convey themes that resonate in everyone. Songs that advocate never letting anyone keep you down because they think theyre better than you (D.O.G.) and to standing up and always being yourself (Who I Am). Wicked and Break Away allude to escaping relationships gone bad. Let Go and Losing Grip speak of the unavoidable strains of the world and the people that surround and affect you no matter what you do.Never straying from her waysometimes edgy and aggressive, yet always brutally honestgiven the chance, Aisha Raine will assist in changing the design of the music world. Influenced by artists like Linkin Park , Evanescence, Breaking Benjamin, and Paramore, Aisha Raine is proving Black Chicks CAN Rock and hopes to aide in dissolving stereotypes and establishing that music truly is color blind.

FaithHonestyTrust

Long ago there was a time
We were two of one mind
A central part of me
Now my heart’s divide
What we were began to rust
No-Faith, Honesty Trust
Your knife in my back
A scar for every time you lied
You destroyed the innocence
Last traces left inside
Must rid myself of your kind
The only way to survive

CHORUS:
I’m over all your lies
The shadows you create
There’s no more turning back
Welcome to my hate

Your face showed no lies
To me the unwise
Always had your back
No one’s left to plead your case
You were once the breath in me
Now so suffocating
Can’t sit back and let you
Lay my fucking life to waste
You destroyed the innocence
Last traces left inside
Must rid myself of your kind
The only way to survive

CHORUS

You’ve taken everything
Burned me from inside
No more faith to hold me
No where left to hide
Taking back my trust in you
The honesty I thought I knew
No way to change my mind
I’m leaving us behind
Open your eyes and see
The enemy you made in me

CHORUS

Liar

Written By: Aisha Raine (© September 2011)

Unbreakable, the force that we create
Fortified, promises we make
Evolution of us made it worth the wait
Desire, no one can replicate
Living idols for the masses
With such strong resolve
Whispered voices spoke deception
Always cast them off
Disguised in the afterglow
Tainted shadows in your soul
Broken pieces cut illusions
About to lose control

(CHORUS)
Ignored the warning sirens
Triggered by your deceit
Ruin every chance you’re given
Made us obsolete
There is no resurrection
Able to remedy
Sickness of your creation
My tragic melody

Fabrication woven
In your disguise
Your forbearance
Calls for my demise
Thought you were my strength
But you never had my back
Weighed down by all the lies
One heart set to crack

Ignored the warning sirens
Triggered by your deceit
Ruin every chance you’re given
Made us obsolete
There is no resurrection
Able to remedy
Sickness of your creation
My tragic melody

BRIDGE
Misleading
Deceit
Trickster
Cheat
Villain
Fabricator
Miscreant
Love Slayer

Knew the laws of engagement
Before I triggered the war
Laid down all defenses
Granting access to my core
Illusions, deceptions, mirages
Led to one decree
Dust settles down, all that remains
The liar you made of me

Ignored the warning sirens
Triggered by your deceit
Ruin every chance you’re given
Made us obsolete
There is no resurrection
Able to remedy
Sickness of your creation
My tragic melody

Crutch

Written By: Aisha Raine (© September 2011)

When I wake I crave
Caress of your embrace
Send shivers to my core
Your essence, your taste
Deception, seduction
Never showing true face
Addiction, perfect drug
Must find a way to escape

(CHORUS)
When I take you in
I put my heart at risk
Façade you create
How can I resist
Knew it then, know it now
Need to break free somehow
Your hypnotic touch
Must lose this crutch

Surrounding I can see
Your sickness corrupting
Leading me to believe
Without you there's no me
I know how bad you are
Making it hard to breathe
But if you stay you'll be
The very death of me

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
For so long
Tried to escape
While you searched my soul
Trying to infiltrate
Fooled me once
Weakened mental state
Whispered promises
Never held weight

Callous state of mind
You got your way
The grand design
Must regain control
Learn to live again
Cleanse myself from your
Domination

CHORUS

Gallimaufry

Written By: Aisha Raine (© September 2011)

If only the somber rain
Could cleanse me from the pain
Hope's fire spark
Save me from the dark
I see my future clear
Forever I'll be here
Trapped inside this mind

Disarray in the air
Dismiss me from the affair
Feel the madness within
Crawling under my skin
Phantoms I can't evade
They linger in the shade
Of my consciousness

(CHORUS)
Can't escape the signal
Corrupting inside
Ravens and writing desks
Delusions reside
Crash through the looking Glass
Shuffle this house of cards
Find a way out the maze
Live life avant-garde

Mind racing fast
How long can I last
Fighting to keep control
Without paying the toll
Lost in the maze of time
Delirium Rage Sublime
Soul in disarray

This must be dream
'Cause no one hears me scream
Or was it just a whisper
Static from the transistor
Resonating sound waves of hope
But I can't cope
It's off with my head

CHORUS

Can't break free
It devours me
My world's turned upside down
Can't locate common ground
Can't begin to, explain myself if
I don't know who that is
One thing I know is clear
We're all mad here

CHORUS x2

Mirror Mask

Written By: Aisha Raine (© November 15,2010), 2010)

With dawn's embrace I put on a face / That the world needs to see / Replace the mask brace for the task / In plain sight no serenity / I can see her in the mirror / Begging me to set her free / Knowing eyes see through my disguise / But chains remain / No liberty // Tired of following law to the letter / No more captivity / Locate identity / Let her reign / Screw their disdain / May the world hide in fear of me // Unique soul out for control /Craves for a way out the abyss / Made to belong it's been so long / Does the true me even exist / I can see her in the mirror / Begging me to set her free / Knowing eyes see through my disguise / But chains remain / No liberty // CHORUS // Full of self doubt I can do without / They will tremble when I am unleashed / Witty tongue wild the devilish child / There's no going back once I am released // CHORUS //

Forbidden

Written By: Aisha "Raine" Mahy

VERSE 1
Held breath, time stops
You enter my view
Exquisite vision
Twist my senses askew
Rapid heart movement
When you arrive on my mind
I see only you
My unrelenting desire

CHORUS
Craving for just a taste
Of your haunting design
Twist in my bloodstream
But you’ll never be mine

VERSE 2
Sworn your heart to another
But by the fire in your eyes
I know you ache with hunger
Give this a try
I’m trapped in the waiting line
With no end in sight
I stay hoping for a chance
Your fervor will ignite

CHORUS
Craving for just a taste
Of your haunting design
Twist in my bloodstream
But you’ll never be mine

BRIDGE
So far out of my league
Greater than I could aim to be
I can’t bring myself to face the sign
We will never leave this place
Caught between something and empty space
Teetering back and forth between the lines

BACKGROUND CHORUS
Craving for just a taste
Of your haunting design
Twist in my bloodstream
But you’ll never be mine
