Bio

Sudanese Singer/Songwriter, Ajak Kwai, brings a unique African vocal style and repertoire into modern arrangements with Afro beats. Now based in Melbourne, Australia, Ajak and her band create an exciting blend of dinka-style folk music paired with a stunning live show.
Ajak's previous two album releases have led wide International acclaim, seeing Ajak heralded as one of the most prominent and influential musicians of Sudan today.

Whether Ajak is singing in Arabic, Sudanese or English, there is no doubt as to the depth and richness of her Dinka roots. Music is the vehicle for her stories of extraordinary life experiences as a refugee, exiled from her home town.

Ajak's stylings are unique from the Upper Nile to gospel singing in Cairo to Melbourne where she has successfully fused her African roots with the grassroots of Australian music.
Ajak's migration to Melbourne in 2007 ignited a new phase in her career- seeing her write and perform with many well know Australian musicians including percussionist Nicky Bomba, multi-instrumentalist Martin Tucker, fret-man Chris Basile and most recently, her collaboration with Sarah Blasko on the 'Key of Sea' album (2010).

“..Kwai has created an exciting album that showcases her magnificent vocal range” Seth Jordan
