There is something special about Ajar’s album “face down lobby.” When Tonia gave me the CD, she said, “You’re going to love this band.” And I did, right from the beginning. Each time I listen to this album, I feel like every song I listen to is my favorite. This album has all of my favorite things in music: good, strong vocals, meaningful lyrics, catchy melodies (without sounding too much like pop music), piano, and passion. To me, a good album has music that makes you feel something when you listen to it. According to those standards, this is a great album.

If Ajar puts this much passion and energy into an album, I can only imagine what their live shows must be like. I haven’t seen them live yet, but I will soon. I have a feeling that, no matter what genre of music you usually listen to, you will like Ajar. Their music doesn’t easily fit into a category, and that’s their advantage. Ajar is a perfect blend of hard-hitting, unrelenting intensity and melodic, captivating harmony.

Bio

Founded in 2004 in the seemingly quiet town of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Ajar embraces the thought of growth and expression in new and sometimes unconventional ways. In fact, the band’s lyrical content and unusual song plots push the idea that art has no boundaries.

From promoting their material to performing live, these dedicated young musicians make their band a full time reality. This translates to their music, as can be felt in the precision of their complex rhythms and arrangements. Ajar describes their sound as being “progressive and experimental,” although they have many influences from outside the rock idiom. For example, ajar is influenced as much by Dali and Edgar Allen Poe as they are by King Crimson and Radiohead.

There is one bond that keeps the band together: determination. Ajar concentrates every day on creating a unique attraction with their style and music. “We are always open to artistic experimentation,” says lead singer, Andres. “Our minds are set on the idea that originality leads to optimal success”.

Aside from constantly working on new material and rehearsing, Ajar can be found heating up the live circuit. They have been featured next to acts such as The Fall of Troy, Envy on the Coast, Our Lady Peace, Fuel, Breaking Benjamin, Nonpoint, Three Days Grace, Ill Nino, Adema, Powerman 5000, Mudvayne, Spineshank, Hinder, Monster Magnet and BigWig.

Ajar also performs frequently in an acoustic format all over the valley. Playing music from other artists such as the beatles and tool to debuting new original material to special audiences. This usually only happens in the most comfortable and pleasant environments.

With a growing fan base, in addition to radio, press and live venues supporting them, Ajar is destined for recognition. Their mission is to awaken this exhausted industry and its followers with a potent dose of originality and artistic expression.
