"Cailey Lindberg says,"

When I heard this slow, soul-filled hip-hop number “The Word” by LA based producer A.J. Crew, I thought that there was something different. It could have been the vocal inflections over some of his rhymes, which I saw as the MC equivalent to blues “scatting” or maybe that the lyrics were just honest, no glitz, no glam, no bottles and bitches. In one rhyme Crew even spits about having his session cancelled, which is about as real as it gets for an up and coming artist. - EARMILK

"Tim Weber says,"

The California rapper goes in on some funky original production from SOULECTION's J-Louis that could stand alone as instrumental, but is taken to a new level with A.J. Crew's verses. His flow sounds effortless and his vocal tone is soothing and melodic ... a great sign of the young kid's potential. - GoodMusicAllDay

"HYPETRAK says,"

On "Fear and Desire (Zoning)," Crew discusses growing up with sickle cell anemia as well as his start in the music business. With spacey production from C:\lorenzo, A.J. spits effortlessly over-top the relaxing instrumental. - HYPETRAK

"EJ Blair says,"

A.J. Crew details life growing up in Toledo, Ohio and the experiences he witnessed while living there. Over production from fellow Ohio native and producer Tone-808s, the up and coming rapper shows off his lyrically conscious raps that put him on GMAD's radars. - GoodMusicAllDay

"David Huynh says,"

Crew is a West Coast transplant, who honed his musical skills while in school in Chicago. Now residing in Los Angeles, A.J. has worked with the likes of Grammy Award-winning songwriter, Rhymefest, as he looks to continue to build his fan base and perfect his craft.

"Who Knew" is a significantly chill and laid back hip-hop track, which highlights the flow from the rising artist. - HYPETRAK

"Miles Raymer says,"

...on the album in question, Nightmares & Daydreams, Crew shows a lot of potential—he's got a talent for punch lines and a way of mixing long lyrical flows with chopped-short lines that places him stylistically somewhere between Cam'ron and Kool Keith. - Chicago Reader

"TC says,"

Grinding to make a name for yourself by releasing a mixtape shows one a noble level of dedication, but delivering an actual album to the people proves you're really in it to win it. Such as the case of the Chicago young’n A.J. Crew... - The Smoking Section

"Richard Spadine says,"

Crew’s mellow sung and rapped vocals are sure to impress Booth readers, as is the silky-smooth production... - DJBooth.net

"Mike Waxx says,"

Now this is how you make a pop record. Normally these kind of songs aren’t up my alley, but the melodic tone of this track is beyond infectious. A.J. Crew is gonna be a problem. The kid makes hits! - illRoots
