hi! i’m Akaya! I’m 21 years old- born in New York, raised in Miami Beach, based in Los Angeles, California. :) I have been singing since before I can remember.
I moved across the country to California with two of my best friends right after we graduated high school. After having a breakdown in a random restaurant bathroom with my best friend on our first day here, I started to feel desperate. We were homeless, living in a random hotel for 2 weeks. That experience consisted of many breakdowns and heavy considerations of turning our one way ticket into a round-trip back home. We were finally able to find a home in California, and that’s where my story as an artist really began. I worked on developing my craft at school for about a year before I met my partner, Johann Mevs. Together we have created my first single ‘Spoiled’ in my living room and bedroom. I make sure I always have a role in the creation of my songs, wether that be lyrically and/or musically. We have created a full EP that is ready to come out VERY SOON!! We put in a lot of love and meticulous care. I’m so excited to show you all who Akaya is!! Thank you so much for listening <3
