"Akira Phunk – Warp Zone"

Sono sei le tracce presentate e in particolare a noi sono piaciute “Last day of civilization”, “Disordine” e “Baton”. - Wicked Style

Bio

Akira Phunk is an Italian born, Portuguese based producer who is blessed with synesthesia, a condition in which his perception of numbers, letters and sound is associated with colours. When he hears music, he sees colours.

Akira began his obsession with electronic music in 2006, when he discovered Krautrock music. Then he started listening to Aphex Twin, Autechre and Squarepusher. He was discovering about making electronic music thanks to album like Go Plastic, Selected Ambient Works 85–92 and Confield.

In 2016 he started buying gear, learning about synths and drum machines. Since August 2020 he’s been devoting himself to produce electronic music.

The music on Warp Zone was made during August 2020 and February 2021. Those recording were highly influenced by AFX “Analord” series and TB-303 early tunes. It’s Akira Phunk personal attempt to produce music using the fewest machines possible.

On his second album, Akira Phunk makes the jump to Autonomo Apparecchio, to release a diverse yet cohesive journey through a raw bassline-driven electronic music. Mondocane! is inspired by some of his favourite music: 1985 to 1988 Chicago acid house. The minimalist production combines the classic 303 squelch sound with a steady
4/4 beat.

Akira Phunk carries on immersing himself in machines, synths, drum machines and trackers, trying to create a place of musical freedom.
