"Un appétit pour orgues"

"Kevin Komisaruk a pris possession de l'orgue de l'abbatiale Sainte-Croix hier soir...chacun trouve son bonheur dans le programme. L'organiste vit son concert comme une performance émotionelle; petits et grands frissonnent."

Kevin Komisaruk took possession of the organ at the Abbey of St. Croix last night…there was something for everyone in the concert programme. The organist’s performance effused emotion, giving chills to young and old alike. - Bordeaux Sud-Ouest

"CD Review"

"La interpretación de Komisaruk se caracteriza por la lucidez de una dictión que permite al oyente una percepción inmediata y complete de cada página musical. Se ha de subrayar además la habilidad y la mesura extremas en el manejo de los registros."

Komisaruk’s performance is characterized by clarity in articulation, which gives the listener an immediate and complete perception of the music that goes beyond the printed page. His ability and extreme facility with registration should also be mentioned. - Scherzo Magazine

Bio

I am a professional concert and recording artist, trained in clavichord, harpsichord, and pipe organ. I hold three degrees in concert performance from McGill University and have performed throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, and England; my discs on Canada's independent ATMA label have won awards and citations in Canada, Belgium, and Spain. My videos on YouTube under my handle "organista71" have received close to 10,000 hits combined since 2009.

The contemplative music I play, my performance style, and the soft sound of my instrument invite introspection in listeners. My performance style is characterized by freedom and improvisation, especially with rhythm: I believe in flexibility and nuance, rather than absolute regularity and precise control, much like the difference between the rhythm of a heartbeat, versus the rhythm of a clock.

The music I choose also highlights flexibility: I specialize in the music of little-known composers such as Antonio de Cabezon and Girolamo Frescobaldi - music written in ambiguous tonalities with smokey atmospherics and improvised rhythms. This music is hundreds of years old, and thus in public domain; I perform entirely from memory, without printed scores.

I work to transport my listener to another place, and another time.
