"Wiser Words From the Heart"

"Kurtis' songs are a roosty blend of country and folk sensibilities, reminiscent at times of Roseanne Cash and captured well by co-producer and country veteran Keith Glass at this Perth studio. " Allan Wigney of the Ottawa Sun - The Ottawa Sun

"Wiser"

"For all this, Wiser is a surprisingly straid foray into country-tinged soft rock, albeit a solid one. It's less ethereal than Sarah McLauchlan but happily substitutes an honest, lived-in feeling for the former's new agey tendencies. Kurtis does indeed sound Wiser." - Steve Fouchard - The Ottawa X-Press

"Larry Lablanc of Billboard Magazine"

"A lot of people try to sing blues or bluesy type material with a bit of jazz feeling. Most people can't do it very well. It takes a good singer, and it also takes a great song and that's
what she provided." - Larry Lablanc - TV Ontario Studio 2

"Ontario songwriters hit a high note on TVO's Studio 2"

"On June 23 at 8:00 pm, TVO's Studio 2 presents the grand finale of Ontario's Song Contest. Toronto resident Alana Kurtis will debut along with nine other finalist hopefuls. The judges - Billboard editor Larry LeBlanc, Toronto Star theatre critic Richard Ouzounian, and Canadian Press music writer Angela Pacienza - were looking for a range of talent in Ontario: a fair representation of our collective community. Emphasis was placed on finding great original songs, exceptional new voices, and engaging performances. The
judges selected the 10 songs from 313 submissions." - Canadian Newswire Group
