Bio
Alan Beck is a singer/songwriter who was born and raised in Carey, Ohio. After graduating from high school Alan had a very short time in the Army but is currently a student at The Ohio State University.

Alan's love affair with music began in his room with a bass guitar. After a high school football game he took the school's bass home with no guidance on how to play or without any idea of what he was going to play. What followed was a long night of sore fingers, frustration, but most of all fascination. Fascination at how attached a person can become to an instrument...

Two years later, after Alan had learned to play guitar, he saw John Mayer's DVD Any Given Thursday. He was immediately struck by how similar he was to John Mayer. They both had a deep desire to play guitar and make good music without being a stereotypical guitarist. The desire for good lyrical music supported by clever guitar playing had always been in the back of Alan's head, but he had never discovered it until listening to John Mayer. Ever since then Alan has had a fascination with Mayer's unique guitar technique and his conversational lyrics.

After a long obsession with John Mayer's Room for Squares and Heavier Things, Alan began listening to other artists. He considers his deepest influences to be John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Elliot Smith, and Jimi Hendrix. Alan occasionally performs at Coffee Amici in downtown Findlay OH and enjoys entertaining his friends with his newest songs. He also is currently writing and recording his first album with the guidance of his mentor Dave Phillips.
