Alan Bennett Band: Ordinary Miracle

There's an honest edge to this album - basic, rootsy rock never goes out of style, and that's Bennett and crew's stock in trade. Whether it's live or in the studio, the band casts an overall vibe not unlike albums like Van Morrison's Astral Weeks. Bennett's musical imagination goes off in many directions, and the band is eager to follow his instincts.

Alan Bennett Band: Ordinary Miracle

Alan Bennett, with unassuming vocals and accomplished songwriting/arranging abilities, submits his CD, "Ordinary Miracle", a widely versatile and intelligent collection of 10 tunes that hits the pop/alternative/rock genre. Bennett's voice has hints of influence from Marshall Crenshaw and maybe even James Taylor - the voice isn't thick, but story telling and laid back - with technical abilities within the tone that are obviously well developed....Bennett is a world class songwriter - intelligence, profundity, and melody - simply presented and drilled into the mind. A poet, a musician - a performer.

Alan Bennett Band: Ordinary Miracle

Alan Bennett has this easy, folk-rocker way about him that almost makes you forget not all his lyrics are up-beat and hopeful.  Bennett proves quite the wordsmith on every song....very much worth discovering.

Bio

I grew up in Stony Brook, New York, on the north shore of Long Island. I'm a voracious learner with a lot of interests. As a touring artist/writer, I've been blessed to play music on some great stages including regular appearances at the legendary The Bitter End, The Living Room, The Mercury Lounge and Makor (all in New York City), as well as Titpitina's (New Orleans, LA), The Cactus Cafe (Austin, TX), Eddie's Attic (Decatur, GA), The Gig (Hollywood, CA), The Evening Music (Charlotte, NC) and The Bluebird Cafe (Nashville, TN). I lived in New York City for eight years, and the landscape inspired many songs including several of those found on my indie releases, Ordinary Miracle and Bloomington Demo.

I moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2004. I spend most of my time here writing songs, collaborating with others and developing artists. When I play live, it's usually at The Bluebird Cafe or 12th & Porter. I love that there's a strong and supportive community of writers and musicians in this town, and I'm thrilled to be working with so many of them. It's a special thrill to work with those who have touched my life with a song or their talent. It's an inspiring place to be, and I feel like this town and I are growing together.

I'm also blessed with a large family including my folks, two brothers, two sisters, two brothers-in-law, three nephews, three nieces and several cousins.

In August 2003, I recorded a 4-song EP with Grammy Award-winning engineer Gary Paczosa (Nickel Creek, Alison Krauss, Dixie Chicks, Dolly Parton), which followed up a 2002 EP, Bloomington Demo, produced by rock drummer Kenny Aronoff (Bob Dylan, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Sheryl Crow, John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, Melissa Etheridge). Says Kenny, "I loved playing with Alan. He loves what he does and it was inspiring to be around him in the studio." I keep promising a new release, and I intend to keep that promise.

Keep checking back as I'm bound to have something new for your CD player soon. Thanks!
