ALANNA
Alanna was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 30th, 1988 and was raised in a family of Trinidadian and Bajan descent with an all American father. At the age of 6 years old, she wrote her first unpublished/unreleased song called “Baby, Oh Oh Baby”. At the age of 9 years old, she moved with her mother to Maryland and graduated from Old Mill Senior High School Class of 2006. But it began at the ripe age of 4 years, that she began to self teach herself to sing and the decision to sing professionally. She listens to artists such as Brandy, Aaliyah, Rihanna, Michael Jackson and others, but has developed her own voice, her own style and her own presence in the music industry. Alanna has been writing lyrics and also plays piano and steel drums and now at the age of 19 she has become a first time mother to her child Jeremiah. This life altering event had given her more inspiration and is now even more goal oriented and focused to become a professional artist.
Alanna is proud to announce the release of lead single “Trust Again” which is off of this yet to be released debut CD “Lyrically Speaking”. This single is about women having a hard time trusting men that want to be in relationship with you. “It speaks of the heart ache and stress that relationships put on a woman”, states Alanna. “Not only romantic relationships but any type of relationship where a woman finds themselves out of character”. Part of her unique arrangements is the use of stringed instrumentals along with keyboard tracks, layered in beautiful harmony to capture the essence of the song. Even with this said, she is in constant growth, experimenting with sound, textures and is open to new creative ideas.
