"A Fresh New Sound"

A Fresh New Sound!

On March 12th 2005 a fresh new exciting sound of worship came to life at the Greater Works Church in Eugene, MO. Alanna Thornton, lead worshipper, singer, songwriter debuted her first worship album Gratitude. Gratitude is a twelve track CD with 7 original songs by the artist herself. Alanna performs all vocals on Gratitude as well as playing the guitar, flute and, djembe.

Saturday night Alanna played a concert at her home church performing several selections from her CD as well as additional favorites. Mindy Collum, a vocalist with the band Empyreal, and Kyle Miller a gifted percussionist joined Alanna as she played. Alanna brings a fresh twist to the forum of Christian music having a sound that is somewhere between Jennifer Knapp and Natalie Merchant. Her voice is smooth yet refreshingly organic in its tonality.

If you enjoy acoustic unplugged innovative worship, then Alanna Thornton could very well become your new favorite artist. Her guitar styling although simple has a wonderful hook that will draw you in and keep you coming back for more! Her lyrics are profound relevant and easy to learn leaving you the freedom to worship.

Alanna will be in concert on April 2nd and 15th at Rivers of Joy in Sedalia MO. I would encourage you to attend the concert; you may go in for a concert but you will leave having visited the throne room of God. - (none)

"Apostle Credo"

About a month ago I was looking at a local concert listing and I noticed a
familiar name, Alanna Thornton coming to Fort Worth to play at the Apostle Credo
Coffeehouse. I immediatly had a flashback to the last time I saw her there. She
used to play in a band with Shayne Shroader. She sang, played guitar and played
a beautiful flute. Approx. 2 years ago, Alanna chose to leave Texas to join her
parents in starting a new church in Osage Beach, MO. I was saddened to see her
leave Texas but God had other plans for her in Osage Beach. So..I was so excited
to finally see her again. This time she played a solo set at the small and cozy
Apostle Credo. She played two sets of five songs each. She started with a great
cover version of "Whole Again" written by Jennifer Knapp. The rest of show
consisted of other covers of songs by Derek Webb and Waterdeep and songs from
her debut CD, Gratitude. She also sang a new song written for her friends
wedding called "Happily". She said that she wrote it just 2 days before the
wedding. Being a fellow Waterdeep fan, I especially loved her covers of "When
the Cold Wind Blows" and "You Are So Good to Me". I especially loved the latter
song due to she had the audience join her in singing it. It also was a version
that I never heard before but enjoyed. I had never heard Alanna sing her
original tunes before and this reviewer was very impressed. Impressed so much
that I had to purchase her CD afterwards. Alanna has been given a talent from
our Lord and she truly is putting it to good use.
