Bio
Alan Powell began his singing and dancing career at the tender age of 6. Inspired by Michael Jacksons memorable 1993 Super Bowl halftime performance, the young Powell was determined to establish a music career that would break down barriers and set himself apart as an entertainer.
Like most entertainers Powell began his musical career in the church, traveling the country singing in Southern Gospel and Contemporary Christian bands as a youth. Although touring with the bands gave Powell the foundation needed to upstart his career as an entertainer he thirsted for much more. Upon completion of high school Powell attended Liberty University located in Lynchburg, Virginia in search for other conduits to express his growing musical interests. It was there he was introduced and invited to join a newly formed pop group by the name of Nusense. The groups career was short lived and Powell was left struggling with the idea that entertainment could possibly not be Gods will for his life.
Pressing on Powell eventually decided that God had called him to be a solo artist and began recording his demo as well as searching for back up dancers. In the Fall of 2005, reinvented and reenergized Powell performed his first show as a solo artist along with his backup dancers The Squad at Liberty Universitys Coffeehouse. With 6,500 people in attendance, Powell tore the house down and brang the crowd to their feet finishing with a standing ovation. Powell continued working on his demo and doing shows in 06' along the east coast from Temple University to the University of Virginia. Powells last show was the Uplifting Minds II Conference in Los Angeles, California, a showcase that Powell as well as his management staff took a 38 hour drive across country to perform for 4 minutes.
The rewards were great as Powell drew interests from labels such as Sony/BMG International and Interscope Records. Powell also secured a talent agent contract with Gwynn Foxx Talent Agency located in Burbank, California recently and is set to appear on sitcoms, commercial, and print ads this upcoming fall.
Determinated, dedicated, and motivated Alan Powell has what it takes to change the entire music scene if given the chance.
