Alan Reid and Rob van Sante

Alan was an integral member of renowned Scots folk group Battlefield Band from 1969 till 2010. He pioneered the use of electronic keyboards in a traditional line up and over the years gained plaudits for his singing, songwriting and playing. In 2000 he began a partnership with singer/guitarist Rob, himself a well known figure in the English folk scene. In 2009 Alan was nominated at the Scots Tradition Awards in the composer of the year category. He also participated in Linn Records acclaimed series on the complete songs of Robert Burns. The duo's latest CD on Scots born sailor John Paul Jones was premiered at the 2012 Dumfries and Galloway arts festival near Jones' birthplace and featured drama and a script written by Alan, a show which is also to be presented at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival .
