Bio
Alan Rice, former singer and guitar player for Over October, began his musical career in the Atlanta bar scene at the age of 14. “The sound guy used to hide me in the back room behind the beer cooler so the manager wouldn’t see me until I got on stage,” he laughs. By age 15, he found himself playing in a group of talented musicians who years later would go on to form the band Sevendust. Alan continued to play throughout the southeast in various bands until the break-up of his most recent project, Over October. Taking the advice of his long time friends and producers, Jan Smith & Huston Singletary, Alan decided to continue on as a solo artist.
Throughout Atlanta, Alan is known for his quirky guitar playing, his raspy voice and well-honed songwriting ability. His unique sound is thick, edgy, and as he likes to call it, “Hard rock with a severe R&B and banjo problem.” Alan’s live performances, at least for now, are all acoustic but make no mistake, he remains true to form. It is a “rock show.”
Alan is currently in production of his first solo release. When asked how he feels about recording and producing the record on his own he said, “It’s crazy. I get to play mad scientist with a guitar, a computer mouse and a banjo. I tend to do things backwards and sometimes it takes longer…but you wouldn’t have me any other way.”
