Bio

Passion. Dedication. Talent. These are just a few words to describe Alan’s Folly, the next big thing in the pop/rock scene, straight from the heart of Music City. After the band’s initial inception, things got off to a slow start…then the four guys that make up Alan’s Folly hit their collective stride. Johnathan (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Jesse (bass, background vocals), Jeff (lead guitar), and Jon (drums) came together in an unlikely albeit fateful way to form the current and final lineup, and together they began writing and performing the music that would define them.

Going far beyond the cookie cutter pop sound that is so prevalent in the genre today, the band goes to great lengths to personalize their sound. They inject into their music all of the inspiration absorbed from the iconic music of decades past, but still never stray from the sound that they love. “You can be very talented,” says band front man Johnathan Woodside “but the fact is that unless your music is catchy and appealing, more often than not people won’t come to your shows or buy your CD’s just for the sake of hearing something ‘different’.” That’s the philosophy shared by all the guys in Alan’s Folly: make great and distinct music – but it better be good. After all, it’s this underlying principle that has led Alan’s Folly into the studio to record their first EP “Hindsight 20/20”, and all across Tennessee, playing for full houses at the best rock venues Nashville has to offer.

With dates scheduled in faraway mythical like places very distant from the band's hometown of Nashville, TN, with many local dates scheduled as well, in addition to a performance at the Journey’s Backyard BBQ in Nashville this summer, Alan’s Folly is making one thing clear – they’re serious about the music they make, and they don’t plan on fading into the background anytime soon. Having competed in and won numerous battle of the bands, and having been invited to perform at numerous festivals, Alan’s Folly is easily seen as the fan favorite, and that’s something they are continually humbled by. Since the formation of Alan’s Folly, the band has played dozens of shows, all focused on one thing: building a following of loyal and devoted fans. “The people we’ve met since we started Alan’s Folly have been fantastic,” says Jeff Anderson, the band’s lead guitarist “we went looking for fans, for people that we could share our music with; people who would listen to what the wanted to play for them; we got that and so much more.” Jon Postins, the drummer for Alan's Folly added, "There are a lot of things that I really enjoy about playing drums in this band. I enjoy the sheer virtuosic element of each performer in the band. Everyone is really, really accomplished at playing their instruments. I really enjoy the material as well; it's a lot of fun to dream up drum parts for and play. I'm proud of it and stand behind it 100%. Also, working with Jeff, Jesse, and Johnathan is huge privilege for me. However, probably my most favorite part about being a member of Alan's Folly are the fans! They are insane....in a good way! The tremendous support and enormous fan base this band has never ceases to surprise nor amaze me. We couldn't do this if it weren't for the fans!" The hours spent after shows meeting with fans, selling CD’s and shirts, signing autographs, snapping pictures, and just building relationships is a testament to that.

There can never be enough said about how great Alan’s Folly fans are; they are absolutely second to none. “Seeing all the faces, the familiar ones and the not so familiar ones keeps our feet on the ground,” says Johnathan “it reminds us that even though we make great music, we can still only be as successful as our fans allow us to be, and right now they’re pushing us forward, so we really couldn’t be happier.” It’s those relationships that propel Alan’s Folly toward their bright future, and it’s the reaching out and connecting with people that is the greatest reward. “We want to see people be changed by our music, we want our music to have an impact,” says bassist Jesse Woodside.

To the guys in Alan’s Folly, there’s just no greater reward than knowing the music they make is reaching people. That deep desire to reach out is what’s fueling the Alan’s Folly fire, and moving them faster and louder into the spotlight. Having recorded their first EP, Alan’s Folly is currently in the midst of playing shows all over the eastern U.S., being greeted and cheered on by new and excited fans every step of the way. They’re something new; something distinct – and they’re definitely good.
