Bio
Alan Williams is an American singer-songwriter whose diverse musical style is unique from one song to another. A keeper of the flame for roots music, Alan blends traditional blues and country with modern rock and flavors of folk and funk.
Several years of high school and college drum line experience laid the foundation for this guitarist's groove-driven rhythm. His intricate finger picking and dynamic strumming form a solid six-stringed beat that feet can't resist tapping along with.
The harmonica brings the blues element to the forefront with a call and response method that gives this instrument a vocal part all its own. In both the upbeat, hip shakinâ₏™ tunes and the sadder, soulful songs, Alan uses the harmonica to engage the listeners' emotions and bodies in a way no other instrument can.
His lyrical style covers many territories, from down-home and humorous to heartfelt and introspective. No matter what story he is telling, Alan uses distinct melodies and infectious hooks to bring vibrant characters to life. After experiencing the vivid imagery he paints with song, it is not surprising that he has a long history as a cartoon artist and a Bachelor's Degree in Animation.
Alan puts together sounds and subjects of all varieties, offering something for every audience while maintaining an original and cohesive performance.
His musical journey has left footprints in Arizona, Louisiana, and Tennessee, as well as his home state of Mississippi. In 2012, Alan performed at the Oxford Blues Festival as the harmonica player in the band Moldy Fig. He performed at Farm Fest 2013 in Philadelphia, MS as the frontman for the band Crooked Letters.
Alan is currently performing solo and working on a demo album.
