"Listen Alarga’s Sophomore EP ‘Inside Out’"

Ankara based five-piece indie band Alarga, shared their second EP Inside Out.
The band -consists of Çağın Kırca, Cansu Turgut, Ozan Özgül, Can Sürmen and Hakan Karaaslan- founded in February 2014. The music they describe as ‘something naive’ promises for great works in the future.

"Debut album by Alarga: ¨Mono¨"

Here comes Alarga with their debut album ¨Mono¨right after their third EP ¨25.09¨released in March 2015. There are 10 songs in album including the familiar ones from their previous EPs like “Bridges”, “Bu çok insani bi’ şey” and “Hengâme”. You may listen to the album via YouTube, Spotify and iTunes.

There are both English and Turkish songs in album. This seems not to harm the unity of the album. Mono sounds really good that may courage many musicians whom affraid of releasing an album includes both English and Turkish lyrics.

Bossa guitars, west origined, Turkish influenced trumpets, rhodes, synths... Not that simple, even so eurythmical. Sometimes powerful, always naive.

Opening song “Artık Gel” ve “Hugrats”, resembles Belle&Sebastian in the light of the tones and usage of synths. Influences from “Quite is the new loud” musicians of 90's and 2000's are quite obvious.

Bossa-fusion atmosphere makes itself appreciable esspecially through in the song “Time”, it merges with lucid vocals of Çağın Kırca and lurid bass melodies and left a beatiful taste at your mouth.

“Bu çok insani bi’ şey” is closing song of the album. Besides it is more acrid than it is promised through album. It makes you feel like the whole album is a defeatist's story. It is strange that the vocals are more powerful and at higher pitches than other songs but -maybe- the only sad song at the closure of the album. And beautiful. Naive. As we have not listened to but ¨as it is said before¨, actually ¨so pretendable¨.

Listen to the album on cold but sunny days. - Onur Sesigür
