On their debut EP All My Friends Are Models, Toronto’s Albeit craft six excellent alt-indie rock tunes filled with dynamic song structures, lively instrumentation and twisting vocal melodies. Throughout many of the tracks, the guitars, bass and drums are locked in, syncing up both rhythmically and melodically (take the bass/guitar solo on “Stairwell Story”). The playing here never overshadows, but always lifts and supports the lead vocals with small sonic flourishes that add plenty of detail and energy to the performances.

With an undeniable hook, “In My Bed” continuously builds towards an explosive refrain propelled by syncopated instrumental stops, which then subsequently break out into a frenzy of soaring vocals and drum fills. The track is a definitive rocker from its propulsive beat to its winding structure and smooth guitar melodies.

Toronto female-fronted band Albeit is an alternative rock band consisting of local artists including Rebekah Hawker (vocals/rhythm guitar), Alex Fuchs (lead guitar), Greg Markov (bass guitar), and Max Bornstein (drums). If you’re looking for something to dance to, their debut single ‘In My Bed’ is definitely the track for you.

The song starts with an upbeat fast sound, the first lyric being “Does your girlfriend know I had you in my bed last night?“ will bring listeners to the conclusion that this song is ultimately about cheating. Between the soft questioning voice and the melodic repeated “In my bed” as the song continues, the emotion of the song is real.

The mix between the rhythm guitar, bass, guitar and drums brings a dreamy pop sound to the alt. rock scene. A clash between the genres should be able to draw crowds from multiple music scenes. Although this is the only song that has been released by the band, we can’t wait to see what they have next!
