Bio
Aleck Woog grew up singing with improvisational funk & soul bands, under the tutelage of his father and many talented, working musicians in New England. In High School, Woog turned his attention to acting as a frontman for local Alternative Rock and Punk bands... during that time he established an energetic, often outlandishly entertaining, stage presence. After feeling the devastating effects of band break-ups and group politics among musicians, Woog began pursuing an interest in Hip-Hop, a genre in which he saw as an opportunity to be a fully self-sufficient solo artist. In 2010 he released his first solo album, an ambitious, 20-track LP, largely self-produced and independently release to itunes. The album received positive review in weekly publications and websites based in New England, and Woog's performance presence became a sought-after act in his home state of Vermont.
In the time Aleck Woog spent performing live around New England and promoting that album, he collaborated with fellow DIY artist Zach Crawford, of SkySplitterInk Productions, on another full-length LP. The album again received positive review and put a tremendous amount of musical growth on display for the fledgling performer.
Since releasing that first album in 2010, Woog has released the second with SkySplitterInk, as well as performed on dozens of tracks with artists from around the country. He has finished pre-production and partial recording on a third project, returning to the role of both producer and lyricist. Now, however, Woog is adding another title to his resume, as an engineer, he will be recording this third project on his own.
Having performed with the likes of Hieroglyphics, Akil the MC of Jurassic 5, Keith Murray of Def Squad, Killah Priest, Termanology, Statik Selektah, Akrobatik, Kosha Dillz, and many more, Aleck Woog is an exciting an original young face in the DIY hip-hop movement, and at only 23 years old, there are no limits to what he is capable of from here.
