Bio
Aleon was born Albert Martinez on July 17, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York. His family moved to the borough of Queens when he was 12 years old. It was here where he became involved with the streets.
The Beginning
Aleon began writing music after a childhood friend Deshawn (an aspiring rapper) was killed in a violent stabbing in a New York subway. Aleon promised to keep his friends dream alive. But life in the Rotten Apple would eventually take affect on a young Aleon as well. Trouble began for Aleon in 1998 when he caught his first felony charge for Robbery. He sentenced 1 year on New York Citys Rikers Island for the crime, followed by 5 years probation. He was sent to live with his Uncle in Miami to carry out his term on probation.
The Music
After about 8 months in Miami, Aleon landed a deal with BIG Records, an independent label with distribution through Tommy Boy Records. Things ran smooth for about another 8 months before BIG Records CEO was indicted on several federal charges. The label couldnt survive. Aleon still managed to book several gigs in South Beach, Miami before he eventually returned to New York disappointed.
More Trouble
Aleon spent less than one year back home before he was arrested again with a friend on weapon and drug possession charges. He was sentenced to 3 years in state prison where he spent 2 years before being released on parole.
A Brighter Future
Feeling like a new man, Aleon decided it was time to take his music career seriously. Going independent with his brother and the Gutta Fam, Aleon went on to release several mix-tapes, selling them out of the trunk of his car.
