Alessandro Giua
Born in Iran in 1970, raised in Italy, Alessandro also lived and worked in Eastern Europe South America and now the US. His passion for the performing arts, specifically theater, cinema and music, his love for cultures and languages, his Bahà’ì beliefs, combined with a strong sense of mission and service to mankind, took Alessandro to many shores, immersed him in many realities, developing in him a keen sense of love, compassion and desire to make a solid contribution to the betterment of the world, through his art and his involvement in volunteer and non-for-profit organizations.
Proficient in 4 languages and expert in the field of Cross-Cultural consulting, Alessandro served in many capacities both in Europe and South America, ranging from being a youth activities coordinator/animator and community builder in Albania, a performer and public speaker throughout Europe and the Americas, a student and researcher at a University (Fundaec) embedded in the harsh reality of the Cauca region of Colombia, developing curricula for tutorial programs aimed at the education and betterment of life conditions of Indigenous and people of African descent, a radio and tv personality in Cali-Colombia, to an outspoken advocate and defender of human rights and the principles in the International Humanitarian Law.
It was his South American experience that engendered in his work a passion for Latin music, the cultures of all the Latin American countries and the desire to contribute to their preservation, protection and diffusion. One of his masters, master tamborero Istvan Dely, an incredible afro-latin percussion player and teacher, founder of Millero Congo and student for 20+ years of the best players in Cuba, taught Alessandro the love and appreciation for the amazing wealth of rhythms and sounds existing in Latin America and Africa.
Once in the US, both as a musician and as a cross-cultural consultant, advocate and interpreter, Alessandro dedicated much of his time and effort to serve Latino communities in Minnesota and now in Illinois.
He co-directed HarmonyWorks, a Non-For-Profit Organization (2000-2003) dedicated to the elimination of race and cultural prejudice, directed the efforts of the Area Growth Program, a human resource development and outreach program under the aegis of the NSA of the Bahà’ìs of the United States (2003-2008) and now he is directing the efforts and co-owns a company dedicated to the creation of a new kind of world music, featuring himself as a singer songwriter, and always seeking collaboration with like-minded artists. His passion for acting led him to develop a career as a voice over talent, and always kept alive is dream of one day directing his own movie, telling the poignant stories he has personally witnessed or heard first hand.
