"Club Wiley Review"

Alex Wiley’s one of the more dynamic voices I’ve heard in recent memory, and is yet another reminder that Chicago is quite possibly the new Mecca in Hip-Hop as far as quality music goes. Of course Atlanta’s new artists have mastered the ability of the radio spin, and New York is still New York (for better or worse), but Chicago’s youthful movement is determined to pencil themselves in on that ballot box come hell or high water. Alex Wiley offers another perspective on the talent, as content wise he’s as flagrant as they come, but lyrically and sonically, he delivers a surprisingly well-done mixtape in Club Wiley, chocked full of references, odes, and nods to the music that we grew up on.

It’s a changing of the guards, so to speak. He’s one of the young artists who grew up listening to Kanye and Ludacris, as opposed to older musicians, and that reflects in the music positively. - Redefined

Bio

Chicago native Alex Wiley established himself as an artist to watch out of the windy city's bubbling Hip Hop scene with the June 2013 release of his debut mixtape, Club Wiley.  Detailed song structure, lush production, and unpredictable flow patterns characterized Club Wiley, and made it one of the best mixtapes to be released last year according to Chicago Hip Hop authority, FakeShoreDrive.  Today, Alex Wiley is ready to announce his anticipated follow-up, Village Party.  The new mixtape represents a natural progression for Alex Wiley, and will be released in May of 2014 via Closed Sessions."It's a way more honest and personal project," says Wiley about his sophomore mixtape.  "I want people to feel like they really know me when they listen to something. People are listening to me now from all over the country, and when I visit their city, I want it to feel like a friend coming into town."

To go along with the announcement of Village Party, Alex Wiley is giving his fans the mixtape's first single, "Own Man", featuring fellow up and coming emcee, Mick Jenkins.  "Own Man" is produced by Odd Couple and is a triumphant and honest record that clearly outlines each emcee's effort and intent.  "Own Man" also provides listeners with a taste of what's to come on Village Party as far as attention to detail, melody, and lyrics that bring listeners closer inside the mind of Alex Wiley.
