"We played through the night, til' our fingers started to bleed... the sound of our music, echoed dark in the trees... the campfire smouldered, the embers vanished to grey... I knew it was then, that I'd better be out on my way..."

Lyrics

What Ever Became of Betty?

Written By: Alexander Sands

Leanin' on a logpile, countin' on a smile, later alligator- in a while my crocodile
I wear the scarf you made for me like it's goin' out of style-
The only proof you ever loved me, when you put me up for trial

The course is set, Betty, get ready, and don't forget to save the best for last
Take a step, Betty, hold steady, to the stars we'll clear ourselves a path

Rockin' back and forth, in the hammock by the porch
Your will is made of iron, from the Susquehanna Forge
Makin' love in my car, in the valley by the gorge,
I gave you all that's mine and now it's time that you give me yours

The course is set, Betty, get ready, and don't forget to save the best for last
Take a step, Betty, hold steady, to the stars we'll clear ourselves a path

Have you ever heard the sound, of the Philadelphia Bell?
It's a broken fantasy like hearin' an ocean in a shell
This relationship/a battleship, it's become so hard to tell,
Whether we're dyin' for each other or we're livin' in a hell

The course is set, Betty, get ready, and don't forget to hold the cup for last
Take a step, Betty, hold steady, to the stars we'll clear ourselves a path

Now I'm starin' at the ceiling, getting dizzy from the fan,
Delivered from the oven straight into your fryin' pan
You're my only woman- can I be your only man?
Though we gave up tryin' YES I still believe we can

Take a step, Betty, hold steady...
And don't forget to save the best for last

I'm a goldfish in a bag,
My life about to burst
In a pool of my own tears,
You hit me where it hurts

I'm a radish in a cup,
Stuck between the lines
Spinnin' round in circles
Til' I make it to Cloud 9

I'm a dolphin in a tank,
Reduced to doing tricks
Jumping through your ring of fire
Just so you could get your kicks...

I'm an apple in a barrel,
At the bottom of the lot
Searchin' for the sunshine,
I don't wanna be forgot-

By you.
