Bio

English version. Alex Carrington has dedicated her life to her artistry.
Throughout her childhood Alex’s only aim was expess herself through her art. At 16 she began her career as a performer and songwriter.
After years of gigging all over the world Alex decided it was time to focus 100% on
Her material. Along side internationally renewned creative team. Alex has recorded her debut album…
Its honest, emotional and it is both a comercial and artistic home run.

It takes a lot of courage to give up an established career to start from scratch.
Alex Carrington has always followed her motto "do or die", and that is one of the key songs on her new album.
The English singer’s debut collection is called simply "Alex Carrington", offering a striking and original blend of rock and pop. Alex says: "’Do or Die’ was the first song that I wrote together with my producer Ken Rose. For the whole of my life I wanted to dance, sing and perform. My singing career was always the most important thing to me – even my friends and family took second place. The will to succeed was the driving force in my life: it led me to leave the country I love and travel the world in the hope of hitting the big time.”
Alex, born and raised in Birmingham, started out in show business very early.
By the age of 5 she had already given her first stage performance, after learning ballet and quickly moving on to tap and modern jazz dance. As soon as she finished drama school Alex fled the nest and started out as a dancer in Athens, Greece. Along with a team of other girls, she performed a Las Vegas style cabaret for all the major clubs and TV shows. But Alex soon realised her vocation in life, which was to sing, and she started to land main parts in musicals like Miss Saigon, Cats, Grease and Starlight Express. “I didn’t even know I could sing until they offered me those parts!” she jokes.
But that is just typical British understatement. Alex Carrington can sing live on stage with consummate professionalism, breaking hearts with her unique voice.
After travelling throughout most of the world, she came back to England and joined a band that eventually took her to Monte Carlo, singing for Prince Albert and Princess Caroline. During her time there she also worked with Sir Cliff Richard and opened acts from stars like David Copperfield.
Despite her hectic schedule, Alex always found time to write her own songs and music. and everything changed when she arrived in Cologne, Germany. There, Alex met several high-profile musicians and producers that wanted to work with her on her own songs.
It was her music and voice that led her to Los Angeles-born Ken Rose. Together they wrote some more songs and produced the album” Alex Carrington". Ken took the demo recordings back home to America and recorded the songs with musicians such as Mike Rowe (who plays keyboards for Sheryl Crow) and Kenny Aronoff (Alanis Morrisette’s drummer). The guitar parts were played by Rose himself: a lifelong Rolling Stones and Beatles fan. The production of the album, using studios in London, Los Angeles, New York and Toronto, took more than 2 long years
"We wanted a colourful sound,” says Alex. "We didn't want to get stuck with just one direction. We knew we were doing real music.”
One of Alex’s key strengths is her instinctive feeling for a catchy melody, such as the unforgettable hook line from her debut single: “Vegas Can Wait". The album "Alex Carrington” covers a broad tapestry of music, from strong rock (“Afraid of the Dark) to infectious pop (“Stuck in the Middle of my Mind”) to haunting balladry (“I Don't Care”). You can also hear R&B influences in “Happy Hour”, dream-like acoustics in "The Middle of Lonely” and skilfully crafted song writing in “Beautiful Fool”. The album tells the story of her life.
It surely cannot be long before the name Alex Carrington is well and truly in the limelight. As she puts it herself: "Life is one big stage. Let battle commence!"
