Bio

Now and then, serendipity mimics a rainstorm - intense, unexpected, and delightfully fruitful. For Alex Clavijo, the fateful tempest materialized as a city-sized spotlight in 1999. While manning the lights one night at Houston’s fabled club The Roxy, Alex was ushered onto the decks to fill in for the absent resident DJ. As if the pressure to keep a hungry crowd satiated on the dance floor wasn’t enough, the night was being broadcast live on Houston's 104.1 KRBE to over 400,000 listeners. The unplanned performance was a success, and Alex Clavijo found his calling.

Today, Alex is one of the top House DJs in the southern USA, co-produces the largest House music festival in Texas, Praia Urbana, and can be found in the studio generating heat for House DJs world-wide. While both Alex's DJ career and Praia Urbana continue to explode, the last year of studio work has placed his original tracks and remixes into the international spotlight. In 2012 Alex and fellow Houstonian, Spettro, released "Escalofrio" and "Sweet 17" on Boo Records and "Xcaret" on the legendary King Street Sounds, as well as a highly-acclaimed remix for Carl Cox on Bush Records ("The Player"). Previous releases include original music on Uniform Recordings, Nightshade Music, and the ever-consistent Bedroom Musik.

Described by Saeed Younan as having a “take-no-prisoners approach,” Alex Clavijo’s sophisticated style can be heard regularly at any of his weekly residencies, his Praia Urbana festivals, and via his worldwide podcast, Earotic Sessions. Alex's consistent dedication as a DJ, producer, and promoter has spread his faithful fan base around the world and his serendipitous spotlight has reached universal proportions.
