"Bending Genres in “Shades of Morning Light” by Alex Giordani"

Alex Giordani’s album “Shades of Morning Light” provides an eclectic glimpse into the Italian artist’s world of vocal-driven songwriting. Released in November of 2019, the fifteen-track album traverses a wide range of genres with a particular foundation in rock and alternative. The opening track, “Mesmerized, “features a grunge guitar riff and a ballad-style vocal which establishes a contemplative mood that carries through the entire album. Songs such as “You Can’t Love Anyone” and “Never Let You Cry” strike a similar tone: both tracks present subtle beds of piano and reverberated guitar which softly support Giordani’s vocals. Other songs off the album showcase Giordani’s ability to bend genres and integrate diverse instrumentation into his compositions. For example, Giordani’s track, “A Life in Wonderland” sits somewhere between the alternative and electronic realm. The song, like most of Giordani’s compositions on the album, features his vocals as the focal point of the track, but Giordani also incorporates an electronic drum kit, saw wave synthesizer leads, delicate electric guitar, and electronic plucks. Giordani achieves similar results melding alternative with electronic in both “Nowhere Land” and “Don’t Save Me.” For Giordani, the linking component between all of his work seems to be his vocals, which take precedence over every other component in the track.

Giordani frequently explores themes of lost love, nostalgia, and imperfection in his songs. Perhaps his greatest strength as an artist, which comes across on this album, is his ability to be vulnerable. While Giorodani’s vocal timing and sense of pacing is not always perfect, his songs feel consistently sincere. On a particularly notable song, “It Can’t be Perfect,” Giordani sings about accepting losing someone you love and embracing that life “won’t be perfect” afterwards. Throughout the song, Giordani’s voice feels energetic and simultaneously genuine. Likewise, my favorite track on the album, “What I need” maintains that same standard of honesty. Giordani’s pre-chorus strikes a particularly moving tone, “I hope that I can turn back time / I hope that my dreams don’t lie / and the angels fly.” While the lyrics may not be the most original, you get the sense that Giordani truly means what he is saying, and that is what matters most.

Going forward, if Giordani leans into the style he has developed in his more upbeat records such as “Out of the Crowd,” and “It Must Have Been You”, I think he will find continued success across Italy and beyond. We look forward to what he has store for us in the future!

"Can Sound Harmoniously Embrace Emotions And Poetry?"

2006-11-22

Can Sound Harmoniously Embrace Emotions And Poetry?
The answer to this question is yes, if you're listening to Alex Giordani's debut album, Essence.
It's an entirely new experience, not just for the artist but mostly for the listener. His music, which he describes as pop-rock with an orchestral sound, brings a refreshing new touch to, nowadays, music that surprises the skeptical who doubt the possibility of renovation in this saturated world. His different approach to music is expressed through his belief that "a song can be more than just four minutes of sounds and vocals, that for some it can become part of their life".
In those four minutes, Alex can give his audience catchy songs like "Forget My Faults," "She Knows" or "Somebody's There" or moments of reflection through "I See Dreams," "Morning" or "White." It's a CD that can even be listened to randomly and there will still be a great song playing, whether it's powerful rock with captivating guitar riffs or a soulful song marked by sublime piano tones.
Through his music you'll be introduced to characters that could reflect anyone in the world... including yourself. Dreams, reality, weakness, strength, illusion, beliefs... Your most intimate moments and emotions are expressed here for you to lose your fear of opening yourself to the great adventure of being who you are, one among billions, but also unique... like your Essence. Have you already discovered yours? - By: Mi2N

"CD Review"

A driving, well-produced, contemporary rock album, Alex’s “Essence”, contains an amazing mix of rock-steady tunes with U2 influences. The album starts with Alex’s powerful vocals on “Somebody’s There”, moving into his heartfelt lyrics and voice on “Rosemary”, the country-rock influenced “Arrive On Time” and the rockin’ synth riff-based song “I’ve Never Wanted”.
Alex’s thought-provoking, mature lyrics take you through life’s journey captured best in his title-track “Essence”, with burning guitar solos by Marco Rinalduzzi and lyrics that speak of our inner struggles. There is a wealth of composition and production experience blended into each song.. And Alex’s strong and deep vocals carry through from the start to the closing, reflective track “ White”.
Alex is an international recording artist, professionally producing this album in Rome. He is joined by a host of talented artists including Claudio Storniolo, Allessandro Canini, Simone Sello and Derek Wilson. Hat's off to Alex for hot rockin' album!

"SHADES OF MORNING LIGHT BY ALEX GIORDANI (ALBUM REVIEW)"

Pop-rock musician, Alex Giordani, releases newest album, Shades of Morning Light. If you are a person who enjoys bands such as U2 or Coldplay, then this album is a great appeal. Giordani captures emotion with this album as each song tells a story with his unique voice and sound. First making his debut in 2006, the singer-songwriter proves he is still around and relevant.

The album starts out with an intense, slow song, “Mesmerized,” in which gives a powerful message about loneliness. Followed by, “The Morning Light,” the track throws us back in time with a sound like “Santeria” by Sublime. “You Can’t Love Anyone” is a slow song full of sorrow about hating yourself and healing with time. Personal favorite, “Thoughts,” gives more of pop/rock vibe from the early 2000s, but mixes well with the rest of the album. Track “Radio Smash Hit,” resembles more of electric music while the following track, “What I Need,” leads back to the more raw-emotion theme but with an upbeat tempo for listeners. Buckle up for track, “Bye Bye,” not only is the track a great fit for a music festival setting, but the songs last almost 5 minutes!

Giordani finishes the album with three remixes, “A Life in Wonderland,” “Don’t Save Me” and “Nowhere Land,” where the tracks sound similar to what can be found on today’s Disc Jockey playlist, but with a unique twist. The album could have done without the last three remix tracks added at end.

Overall, this was an album that is personally recommended to the fans of British pop/rock genre of music. Though the album is excellent, one can see how it would only appeal to certain audiences.
