"Time Out"

"laid-back but infectious songcraft..." - Time Out London

"World Class Songs"

".......kept me listening, and listening and listening....a beautifully rendered cycle of songs of complexity and depth that will take your breath away.....Some of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, performed with jaw-dropping skill......World Class songs. ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE."
- Rebel Riffs Music Blog

"The Waiting Room"

"One of the most beautiful set of songs I've heard for a long time. Alex Highton is, in my opinion set for very big things. A must have album for any discerning music lover. Definitley a name to watch out for in 2007
- Error FM

"Review of A Song for Someone"

"........Song writing ability, he has in spades. Patience to allow himself to express his feelings, he has in shovels......Alex is brilliant and I will say this to you good folks… If he's doing a venue near you, then go and see him. If it's vaguely near you, go and see him. If you're in a different country, then simply enjoy his sound on MySpace and tell him how lovely it is." - Living Athiest

"Parental Advisory"

I fear that the relative lack of blogs this year will of necessity mean a top 50 Myspace downloads but who knows maybe not. The following by Alex Highton may or may not be included depending on whether they were available for download. I’ll have to ask. I got them mailed so I don’t know which if any have or will be available but the quality overall would make them definite inclusions. They form a distinct but complimentary body next to Alex’s work with Mohanski. There is little of the funk to be found in Mohanski and rather more whimsy than I’m usually comfortable with but the openness and charm more than win me over. The songs I’ve had passed over form a loosely autobiographical strand, songs about moving from the city to the country (and in Village Life it’s a place with a hint of Summerisle). Reflections on youth from a slightly older age that still admits how much fun getting fucked up can be if no longer wanting to indulge daily on Girls, Drugs & booze. When You mile At Me I Die Is a song that probably can only be fully enjoyed by a parent (I’d have found it slushy without kids). Overall these tracks would be very at home on the old Transatlantic label, home to Bert Jansch, Ralph McTell and Pentangle. A good 2 to 3 stars across the lot, You’ve Got The Trees & Village Life being my favourites. Mohanski album out in May or June nationwide I think (though it’s available now) and it’s well worth getting now so it can be your "Summer" album. ** - *** - Parental Advisory Review

"Dealing in swooning, Beatlesesque pop, singer/songwriter Al Highton creates music that transports you to long hot summer days and hazy mornings. With toes dipped in psychedelia, folk and pure pop......A sublime and hypnotic sounding collection of songs, the FAT CHAMPS EP sets Al Highton up as a singer/songwriter destined for impressive things; this is a gorgeously realised first impression - UK MUSIC SEARCH REVIEW MAY 07
