Biography

Alexis Babini is a songwriter and performer who is well-known for his playful stage presence and staggering songwriting skill. Most often appearing with an acoustic guitar and a single microphone, he can sometimes be sighted behind a piano or keyboard. His songwriting is a diverse blend of modern day pop/rock, with an occasional nod to folk classics. Most often joyous and funky with his songs, he always expresses his sensitive side and can occasionally be heard revealing his penchant for Jazz stylings.

The Northeastern Performer Magazine describes Alexis’ music as “… fills the audience's ears with lyrics of love, flirting, and a little heartbreak. His song "High Hopes" had all the women in the room sneaking up to the dance floor of Club Pure in The Roxy. As Alexis left the stage, the room had a good buzz starting."

Hailing originally from Connecticut, Alexis Babini, at age 16, formed his locally acclaimed band “Gabriel’s Groove” and fronted the 2004 release of their full-length album “Up to a Better Place”. That same year, he made his way to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music, where he majored in Songwriting. There, he began to pursue his solo career full-time, and assembled a powerful band to back him at his shows, endearingly christened Alexis Babini and Friends.

While the musical fashion attributed to Alexis is no doubt well-received, it is most often recognized for its individuality. His musical ability enables him to experiment and successfully blend many styles, tempos, and subjects. The lyrics, have reached numerous fans, and span from playful and humorous in "Let It Shine", to the most serious and pensive in "A Love Song". Stylistically, the songs take their inspiration from varying sources ranging anywhere from Ryan Adams to Michael Jackson and everywhere in between. However, no matter what the mood, Alexis will always be seen wearing a smile and always entertaining his fans.

Alexis has also taken his act to television and radio, appearing as the special guest for “All About Arts” at local Boston Neighborhood Network Television, and being the featured artist for college held programs such as Boston University’s channel 10 “BU Tonight”.

Alexis' personable demeanor on- and off-stage has long been a trademark of his music, and he has therefore created a loyal fan base that he refers to as his friends instead of his fans. Therefore, it is no surprise that his current hometown of Boston is plastered from one end to the other with stickers that read "Alexis Babini loves you". Rare is there a night when Alexis isn’t appearing live and making new friends.

Alexis songs are already distributed online, but look out for the official EP release and tour in 2008! Alexis and his band are coming to your town to feed you musical sweets until your tummy aches.

Lyrics

Traces

Written By: Alexis Babini

Ooh woman I can see the end,
And it's more than I intended,
I realize we're more than friends.

Oh, but you show me sympathy,
For the things you've done to me,
I have to ask myself how can this be?

And why does it feel so wrong,
Why has it been so long,
You know I'm not that strong to resist this bliss.

Time will tell you said,
But I' m scared to see your face.
When you're still in my head,
Thoughts I can't erase.
So I'll leave a trace of you.

You and me are locomotives fast,
Sooner or later things are gonna crash,
I can see it in the tracks.

This time I know,
I don't wanna go but I still do,
And follow traces that lead me back to you.

But dont worry I'm fine, fine, fine,
I'm fine, fine, fine,
You're on my mind.
And you're out of line with what you said to me,

Time will tell you said,
But I' m scared to see your face.
When you're still in my head,
Thoughts I can't erase.
So I'll leave a trace of you.

And I believe it strange,
The life we live,
And how it arranged for me to meet you,
Because you took me out when you took me in,
You left me no place to retreat to.

Time will tell you said,
But I' m scared to see your face.
When you're still in my head,
Thoughts I can't erase.
So I'll leave a trace of you.

High Hopes

Written By: Alexis Babini

You took my number then you never called,
Wont you tell me was it something that I said?
It took a while to get your diamond smile,
Out of my disappointed head,

Oh, and I want you to know,
I won’t let you go,
I had high hopes for what we could’ve been,
Oh, and I don’t want to wait,
For you to hesitate I know that you wont let me into your arms

If I had your number, baby, I would have called,
But you said that you would dial me on the phone,
Next time I see you I won’t even say hello,
And you’ll wish that you would’ve taken me home.

Chorus

And if you never call,
I’ll be over you,
And you won’t see me stall
As soon as I find someone new to take the place of you,
Until I do…

You got my number baby just give me a call,
Because you know that I’ve been dyin’ to tell you so,
I’ve got a million things I want to say to you,
But for now I could just start with ‘Hello’

Chorus

Easy On the Eyes

Written By: Alexis Babini

Our eyes meet,
You smile at me,
So how could I compete?
I knew right then that everything had changed.
You crossed the line,
You made a crime,
'Cause in a moments time,
Your pretty face was embedded to my brain.

Has anyone told you?
"You look just like that movie star".
I wanna get to know you,
But a pick up line wont take me far.

And it must be great,
Always gettin' your way,
Always turning heads as you walk away.
You never need your own umbrella when you're standing in the rain.
It must be good,
It's understood,
It might not come as a surprise.
Still it's hard to deny,
You're easy on the eyes.

Give me a chance,
Give me your hand,
Help me understand.
But you don't give me anything at all.
We play these games,
And it's a shame,
That it has to be this way.
But don't think for once that I won't play along.

Has anyone told you?
"I swear I've seen your face before"
I wanna get to know you,
I want to get to know you more.

And it must be great,
Always gettin' your way,
Always turning heads as you walk away.
You never need your own umbrella when you're standing in the rain.
It must be good,
It's understood,
It might not come as a surprise.
Still it's hard to deny,
You're easy on...

I'm sidestepping,
And I am tiptoeing,
Around the cracks till the day that you get back.
It's not exactly a plan of attack babe,
So cut me some slack.

Here we are,
Still under par,
You wont let me get too far.
Maybe you'll let someone in someday.
I'll play the fool,
You know its cool,
You're far too beautiful to let you go ignored and walk away.

Has anyone told you?
"If looks could kill you'd massacre"
I wanna get to know you,
But you're too high of caliber.

And it must be great,
Always gettin' your way,
Always turning heads as you walk away.
You never need your own umbrella when you're standing in the rain.
It must be good,
It's understood,
It might not come as a surprise.
Still it's hard to deny,
You're easy on the eyes.
