BandRockBlues

Alex Kerckhoff's music embraces blues and classic rock traditions while mining constantly for new sounds and ideas to make the familiar exciting once again. His smoky vocals, searing guitar work, and well-crafted songwriting produce an exciting well-rounded and unique artistic statement!

Biography

Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, influenced by the sonic explorations of Jeff Beck, the restless creativity of Tom Waits and the dangerously funky rhythms of James Brown, Alex Kerckhoff has created a sound and musical attitude all his own. The young guitarist and songwriter released his debut album, "No More Rain," on Revolg Records in June 2012.

“No More Rain” is steeped in classic blues-rock tradition but still pushes boundaries with its surprising “left turns.” As attested to by praise from both concertgoers and online blogs, you can hear in this album Alex’s familiarity with all types of sound percolate through the bedrock of his strong musical sensibility. The result: a riveting collection of songs that draw upon many styles but still sound unified and unique, transmitting a clear musical vision. These are rare traits to find in such a young artist.

These days, Alex can be found all over the world performing, recording, teaching workshops, and touring (most recently to Japan with his friend and collaborator, Capital). With a demanding performance schedule, and with preparation for a follow-up album already underway, the future is looking bright for this young talent!

Praise for “No More Rain”:

“This is a phenomenal 1st outing by an artist I have been interested in for a long time. It gave me alternately chills (screaming guitar) and tears (songwriting). I cannot wait for the follow up”- Itunes review from user “carlthomsen”

“The title track is “No More Rain” which represents how well crafted this album is. I’ll let you decide on the rest, but I’m happy & drunk with this one.” – Album review from “Odd Imagery” blog

Lyrics

Jam #65

Written By: Alex Kerckhoff and Jeff Schneider

I'm trying to quit and I'm trying to let go
All the things I know I can't control.
It's getting me down, don't you know
That it ain't easy.

I'm trying hard, so hard to pretend
But I know deep down it's a means to end
I'd rather be myself than to be
Somebody deceiving.

Wake Up, fall in line.
It's just make up, my painful smile
You know I hate it and I'll start all over again.
But baby I'll fake it and take my time time 'til I make it
I just won't let them break it.
Break down what I own.

I'm trying to move and I'm trying to get by
All the things I know that hurt my pride.
If I ain't made it yet, don't you know
There's always a reason

I'm trying to give and I'm dying to show,
More love than I've ever known.
If you open your arms don't you know
I'm ready for pleasing.

Wake Up, fall in line.
It's just make up, my painful smile
You know I hate it and I'll start all over again.
But baby I'll fake it and take my time time 'til I make it
I just won't let them break it.
Break down what I own.

When will I have, when will I find
That thing they call peace of mind?
If it comes my way, wake me up,
I'm happy to meet it.

But for now, this is me.
So I'll stop and I count
One, two, three.
I open my eyes and I'll find that
I'm still breathing.

Wake Up, fall in line.
It's just make up, my painful smile
You know I hate it and I'll start all over again.
But sweetheart I'll fake it and take my time time until I make it
I just won't let them break it.
Break down my soul.

No I won't let them
Take away my soul.

No More Rain

Written By: Alex Kerckhoff and Jeff Schneider

I got a no good hearted woman.
She never comes home at night.
I work all day just to please her.
But she still don't treat me right.

You know she's always complaining about something
I can't get no peace of mind.
When she don't get her way
The things she will say,
Believe me they ain't very kind.

Well it's not that I don't love her,
But she's driving me insane.
I have no choice but to leave her.
No more tears and no more rain.

Ain't Over You

Written By: Alex Kerckhoff

Baby don't tell lies.
Baby don't tell lies.
Look me in the eye.
Just tell me you're true,
That I'm the one for you.

I'm a jealous guy.
I'm a jealous guy.
So where you been?
Who with?
You're crazy now if you trade my love for his.

I never thought, I'd ever fall for a girl like you.
A girl like you.
And what I got, I got me the deepest shade of blues.
The deepest shade of blues.
But every time, you walk through my door.
I gotta admit.
That I ain't over you.
No I ain't over you.

Yeah I work so hard.
You know I do my time.
But I'm ready, commit a crime.
Cause thanks to you I ain't got a fucking dime.

Trouble everyday.
I lay away at night.
Just hoping to get by.
Don't want to sleep 'cause my dreams become your lies.

Who the hell?
Who the hell would raise a girl like you.
She seems so sweet.
But she'd sell her soul for a pair of shoes.
A pair of shoes
But every time, you walk through my door
I gotta admit.
That I ain't over you.
No I ain't over you

Of every wish,
Your mamma had for you.
I'm the one that came true
But from what you say
A good man's not for you

Well so long baby
I'll see you another time.
'Cause I'm moving, down the line
If I stay with you all I get is wasted time.

Why the hell?
Would I ever miss a girl like you
A girl like you.
Did you forget?
All the love that I gave to you.
That I gave to you.
But every time, you walk through my door.
I gotta admit that I ain't over you.
I gotta admint that I ain't over you.
No I ain't over you.

Happy and Drunk

Written By: Alex Kerckhoff

I'm flat on my face,
From drinking half the night.
Ain't got a reason.
Just thought it would be nice.

I don't miss a woman.
In fact my life's just fine.
I just had to get myself,
Some sweet sweet red wine

Drunks like to fight.
Get sick at the end of the night.
But I'm dancing with lady luck
And I'm fine,
Happy and drunk

No one wants to see,
Me crying in my beer.
Drink all I want and in the morning
She still won't be here.

It's better to be drinking
When things are going good.
'Cause a bitter old man with an empty bottle
Is often misunderstood.

Drunks like to fight.
Get sick at the end of the night.
But I'm dancing with lady luck
And I'm fine,
Happy and drunk

I don't beg for pennies.
I never sleep alone,
And when I'm done I can stumble home
To a house that I own.

And in the morning,
When the sun feels too bright,
I'll sit back and laugh and try to remember
What I did last night.

Drunks like to fight.
Get sick at the end of the night.
But I'm dancing with lady luck
And I'm fine,
Yes I'm fine
Happy and drunk

Abe Lincoln...Who Shot Ya?!

Written By: Alex Kerckhoff, Chris Kelly, Evan Fisher

She struts so gracefully
Floats into the room.
Flips her hair, rolls her eyes
Sexy and aloof.

Well I want it, I want it
I want it now.
I want it, I want it
Anywhere somehow

Sexy thing.
Beautiful fling.
Spread your wings and start to sing.
Take a chance on romance.
Your life's enhanced with just a glance.
Get on my side 'cause your mamma lied
Now let me ride your slip and slide.
Sexy thing, a beautiful fling
Spread your wings and start to sing.

Does she have a boyfriend here?
Maybe three or four?
Spend some time alone with me
And you won't need them no more.

'Cause I want it, I want it
I want it now.
I want it, I want it
Anywhere somehow

Sexy thing.
Beautiful fling.
Spread your wings and start to sing.
Take a chance on romance.
Your life's enhanced with just a glance.
Get on my side 'cause your mamma lied
Now let me ride your slip and slide.
Sexy thing, a beautiful fling
Spread your wings and start to sing.

When it's all been said and done,
We go our separate ways.
I'll take my time but lose my mind
Has it been three days?

'Cause I want it, I want it
I want it now.
I want it, I want it
Anywhere somehow

Sexy thing.
Beautiful fling.
Spread your wings and start to sing.
Take a chance, take off my pants.
Your life's enhanced with just a glance.
Get on my side 'cause your mamma lied
Now let me ride your slip and slide.
Sexy thing, a beautiful fling
Spread your wings and start to sing.
