"No More Rain"

Friend, and killer guitarist, Alex Kerckhoff came to me to design his debut album No More Rain. After hearing the rough mixes of the album with it’s slithering guitar riffs and growling, smokey vocals, I dreamed up with a disheveled character that lives alone in an arid environment. While the artwork is inspired partly by Dia de Los Muertos, I wanted to move beyond and hint at a narrative of a dried-out man living, playing music, and telling us his story from this dark, desert landscape. Our narrator resembles Kerckhoff, of course including his trademark fedora!

Please check out the album. It can be found on Spotify and iTunes, but to get a physical copy and hold my artwork in your hands, you can order an old-fashioned kind of CD from Kerckhoff’s Bandcamp site : alexkerckhoff.bandcamp.com - Andy Lyon

"Alex Kerckhoff Set To Release Solo Debut "No More Rain""

Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, Alex Kerckhoff is influenced by the sonic explorations of Jeff Beck, the restless creativity of Tom Waits and the dangerously funky rhythms of James Brown. Alex's sound and musical attitude is all his own though, and it's on full display on his debut solo album "No More Rain" to be released June 8 through Revolg Records.

Alex started teaching himself guitar at the age of 13 and immediately fell in love with the instrument. His love for music lead to years of practicing which eventually brought him to USC’s Thornton School of Music. At the university level, Alex was able to augment and expand upon his rock and roll roots by becoming immersed in all styles and aspects of music including, jazz, classical, flamenco, country, theory, arranging, recording, and song writing.

The "No More Rain" CD Release Concert, featuring a live band of top LA musicians, is June 8 at Central SAPC, Santa Monica.

And if you like what you hear as much as I did, do yourselves a huge favour and purchase this awesome solo debut here: alexkerckhoff.bandcamp.com/album/no-more-rain

"Alex Kerckhoff live at Central!"

One thing that amazes me is the the exciting feeling you get when something good is going on. That was Friday at a club called Central in Santa Monica. Alex Kerckhoff is a musician I meet at the Cats-A-Renos Blues Jam & have the good fortune to have played with. He has a new LP out which you can get right HERE. Every time I'd see him play he be able to add a lot of texture to the song. It's strange because I wouldn't see him at the jams & he'd come in so often speaking of his LP he was working on. Thinking of the last time I saw Alex he had stated it was almost completed. That was the beginning of this year. Now available with songs like Jam #65 & Sea Ranch I can say it was worth the wait. This is a great album, you did good my friend. There is the the band,of course I must mention starting with Nick Campbell on bass, Logan Shrewsbury on drums, Rumi Patterson on screams and Capital on backing vocals/screams. These are incredible musicians on this record. Capital is someone the check out as well. Alex & Capital can be found at Revolg records. The title track is "No More Rain" which represents how well crafted this album is. I'll let you decide on the rest, but I'm happy & drunk with this one. Alex see you at your next gig!!

Bio

Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, influenced by the sonic explorations of Jeff Beck, the restless creativity of Tom Waits and the dangerously funky rhythms of James Brown, Alex Kerckhoff has created a sound and musical attitude all his own. The young guitarist and songwriter released his debut album, "No More Rain," on Revolg Records in June 2012.

“No More Rain” is steeped in classic blues-rock tradition but still pushes boundaries with its surprising “left turns.” As attested to by praise from both concertgoers and online blogs, you can hear in this album Alex’s familiarity with all types of sound percolate through the bedrock of his strong musical sensibility. The result: a riveting collection of songs that draw upon many styles but still sound unified and unique, transmitting a clear musical vision. These are rare traits to find in such a young artist.

These days, Alex can be found all over the world performing, recording, teaching workshops, and touring (most recently to Japan with his friend and collaborator, Capital). With a demanding performance schedule, and with preparation for a follow-up album already underway, the future is looking bright for this young talent!

Praise for “No More Rain”:

“This is a phenomenal 1st outing by an artist I have been interested in for a long time. It gave me alternately chills (screaming guitar) and tears (songwriting). I cannot wait for the follow up”- Itunes review from user “carlthomsen”
