Bio
Born in London, 1984, Alex Kozobolis is a self taught pianist and composer.
He began playing the piano at 17, “feeling a weird and inexplicable draw to the piano; sneaking into empty music rooms at college and hitting keys until something good came out”
Alex dropped out of university twice and eventually stumbled into youth work with a small charity based in the back of a church in south London. Staying behind most nights after work, he developed and composed most of his music in the dark on an old and battered piano in a corner of the church after eveyone had left the building
Alex suffers from Tourette’s Syndrome, “a neurological condition where the mind and body basically crave rhythm”… he says… “so, for me, music is one of the only things that actually satisfies it”
He released two EPs in 2010 [“theme for an empty playground” and “the whisper”] followed by “the girl, the boy & the rest” in March 2011 - the score to a short film of the same name.
Alex is involved in several other music projects including collaborations with Phil Brooks, Alex Emery (formerly of The Trophy Hearts) and Rafael Haley (The Fives)
