Bio
Alfie Carpenter is an artist and musician based in Suffolk, UK. He writes and performs music and is a landscape artist working with mixed media.
Alfie's artistic pursuits began in 2013, when he immersed himself in painting the barren landscapes of East Anglia by day, and performing at vaudeville club shows by night. As his collage paintings became more established, his music developed a dreamy soundscape quality, with melodies, words and ambient sounds assembled using painterly strokes. This culminated in the art installation he created in 2017, entitled Land Song, which was a mixture of visual and sonic art-scapes performed and exhibited in a medieval church. Following on from this success, In 2019 he released the album Land Song, which is a striking collection of ambient alt-folk, taking on issues such as queer culture in rural communities and the journeys of refugees.
Comparisons vary from John Grant and Julia Holter, to ANOHNI and Meredith Monk.
