"sound like"

“They sound like Chris Cornell, Axl Rose and Bon Scott having a brawl in a backstreet boozer” - Inside out guide

"Live"

“It is on the live stage where Alfonzo really excel” - Evening News

"Gig"

"Third on the bill were Edinburgh band Alfonzo, and again there was nothing sedate about these boys. The whole band has got a kind of rock swagger, not the annoying Gallager kind, just that they know what they want and know what they are doing. Again the band have a well defined rock sound with a distinctly Led Zepplinesque style. However all this is to the good as they keep their own distinctive sound to the songs they produce. The best thing about their sound however is that you don’t just hear, you feel the bass and combined with an energetic front man, you’ve got a great performance. Finishing with the excellent Peace the award for persistence goes to the lead singer trying to get the crowd to join in and persistence pays off as most of the crowd did. Well done that man!" - Live Music Direct

Bio

Alfonzo are a four piece band, from Portobello, Edinburgh. The current line up has been together for the past three and a half years. The band is
made up of brothers Mikey (guitar) and Chris Cook (bass), drummer Andy Innes and lead singer and keyboard, Daniel McGeever. Having all grown up
close to each other and going to the same school the band have been best friends since they were kids this friendship is evident in their playing as they are one of the tightest bands you will see about. With great live sets becoming the norm for Alfonzo they caught the eye of new Glasgow based label D Set Records, who decided to make them their first band on their label.

The band has been gigging successfully around Scotland with support slots with the likes of Snow Patrol, Doves and Feeder and with festival
appearances at Wickerman festival who nominated Alfonzo as best live act for the indy music awards 2008 and playing the main stage at Live @ Loch
Lomond last year, so things look to be going very much in the right direction. With all the guys great love for rock and blues over the years it was time for them to go into the studio and put down their own stamp on the music scene. They have recently finished working on their debut album with award winning producer Jim Sutherland (Aberfeldy) which was then sent off to George Marino at Sterling sound in New York for mastering. Their debut single “Shuma” from the album “Stories Written for Today” should be out latter in the year.
