"Live"

“It is on the live stage where Alfonzo really excel”
- (Evening News)

"Single of the Week"

"Imagine what Ocean Colour Scene would sound like without the boredom and tedious britpop choruses" I wrote, on these very pages in 2008, concerning a previous single by Alfonzo. Well, 2009 model Alfonzo is just as engaging and this rock band from Edinburgh still deserve to be huge. They have tight playing, Seventies style rock stylings and even rock instrumentals for b-sides. For the record, 'Blind As Faith' is just as good as the new Pearl Jam single" - www.adriandenning.co.uk

"Single Review"

"Edinburgh based foursome Alfonzo have successfully captured a sound that could potentially see them skyrocket to stardom.
The dirty, blues laced bass line that brings this vibrant piece of 70s nostalgia rock n roll into play sets the scene for what becomes a blast from the past tune with a little bit of a modern shine. A screaming guitar riff fits hand in hand with the jangly keyboards and bouncing drum beat that keep this song fast paced and thrilling, making your bones shake with every second of this wholesome rock track. The rough vocals provided by Daniel McGeever couldnt have fitted more perfectly, and the tight lyrics ensure that this song doesnt fall short on any level. With a sound that can only be described as the screaming love child of The Answer and Led Zeppelin (and that just only brushes the surface) Blind as Faith offers a decent slice of rock and roll, a heavy dose of the blues and not an ounce of uncomplimentary nonsense".

Bio

Alfonzo are a four-piece band from Edinburgh. They are made up of brothers Mikey (guitar) and Chris Cook (bass), drummer Andy Innes and lead singer and keyboard, Daniel McGeever. Having all grown up close to each other the band have been best friends since they were kids, which has helped them become a great live act.

This live reputation has enabled them to gig successfully around Scotland with support slots with the likes of Snow Patrol, Doves and Feeder and with festival appearances at Wickerman festival (who nominated Alfonzo, best live act for the indy music awards 2008) and the main stage at Live @ Loch Lomond last year. They also recently played with The Fratellis and Travis at the Glasgow o2, which was on national TV. So things certainly look to be going very much in the right direction.

They have recently finished working on their debut album with award winning producer Jim Sutherland (Aberfeldy) which was then sent off to George Marino at Sterling sound in New York for mastering. The upcoming months will see Alfonzo play many gigs in support of their debut album.
