Who / What:
Alias Grace
Music Genre:
Rock & Pop

Cleveland quintet [Alias Grace] has crossover appeal written all over it, rocking just hard enough for active rock radio and sounding nonthreatening enough for adult-contemporary formats. It often sounds like a band hellbent on melding Coldplay with A Perfect Circle. The demo's three tracks feature basic rock structures topped with grand atmospherics in the form of piano and soaring vocals from singer Mike Callahan. The real gem is "Sunset Dawn," with a Zeppelinesque chord progression that develops into an engaging maritime chantey. - Scene Magazine

Bio

Alias Grace has its roots in 90s alt-rock and its limbs extending into contemporary pop-rock. The recent, self-produced album 'When I Close My Eyes' is a journey of self-exploration musically and spiritually. Lead singer and songwriter Mike Callahan uses many different forms of song construction, keeping one guessing what the next song will sound like. Callahan's honest and upfront lyrics range from thought-provoking philosophy to shocking sexual aggression.
The Band was lucky enough to work with multi-platinum producer/engineer Michael Seifert on a few tracks of the album. Seifert felt the songs 'Crashing' and especially 'Slide' had radio potential.
Alias Grace also won the 'Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting' award for the song 'Warm and Naked' from the 9th annual Great American Song Contest.
Still, Alias Grace is a band to see play live. The energy in their live show is still unmatched by any of their recordings to date.
