Bio

Talent, like class, is something you are born with. It can be nurtured but cannot be cultivated. These are words that would aptly describe Alisha Bramwell, known to the music industry as Alibra.

Alibra, whose astronomical sign is Virgo despite her stage name, has been singing professionally for the last 5 years, and is blazing a trail onto the music industry. Her recently released singles “cleraly”and in my world is getting prominent airplay in Jamaica, New York ,Florida, japan and in europe her singles, is been added to radio station daily to station in the us as well as the carribean Europe and asia She is currently working on the hit video which will accompany the singles.

Alibra is well sought after and has performed on many Irie Jamboree stages, New Jersey Fest and other prominent shows across the us as well as locally in Jamaica. Her performances have been on the same stage as many major acts, including Buju Banton, Baby Cham, bounty killer, beanie man and many others

Although accepting the challenges of a female breaking into the industry, Alibra remains undaunted. She believes there is room for her soulful reggae style, and while her emphasis will be reggae, she is open to R& B and doing ballards. A native of Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Alibra says her gift is genetic as her father is a talented singer. She hopes to make a mark both in Jamaica and the U.S. and looks forward to landing potential contracts, doing good music and earning the respect of her peers. While not comparing herself to others, she admires Tanya Stevens, Whitney Houston and through her father’s influence grew up on the likes of reknowned artistes like Sam Cook and Otis Redding.

She is torn on the issue of clean lyrics as it relates to being a role model. While she feels there is a responsibility to ensure g-rated lyrics, she also feels it borders on taking away an artiste’s lyrical expression and that it truly is the differences between both, that makes music interesting. She feels longevity in the industry is almost guaranteed if the industry continues to push reality music. According to Alibra, it has depth and people are more inclined to listen and react to the issues. Another trait that contributes to longevity Alibra feels is the ability to adapt, being stuck on style or in an era has allowed many artistes to become one-hit wonders.

Alibra is currently working in studio on an album and if her first single is anything to go by, a star has been born.
