Powerful! Entertaining! Inspirational! are just a few words used to describe the talents of Ms. Alicia James. Her sultry voice and style have been compared to stars and living legends such as Tina Turner, Tina Marie, Joss Stone, Jonell Monae, and John Legend.

Alicia's talent and passion were realized as a young songstress in Philadelphia, Mississippi. As her aspirations and talent grew she decided that she needed a bigger audience than provided by her hometown.

Alicia moved to Houston, Texas in 2003 to pursue her dreams. In June of 2004 her dreams were nearly extinguished when she lost her hero and mother to a long battle with cancer. Instead of allowing this tragedy to detour her, it fueled her ambition to succeed in her mother’s honor.

With renewed focus and determination Alicia formed SMR Entertainment to assist and educate aspiring artists like herself, she created a virtual video movement on YouTube based on natural beauty with over 700+ subscribers to date, and has had impressive success as a performing artist in and around the Houston area. Alicia has featured at most of the top venues in Houston such as the House of Blues, Scott Gertner’s Sky Bar, Clayton’s, and the Red Cat Jazz Café.

Alicia’s new single “Crazy in Love” is receiving rave reviews from industry professionals and fans. 6/15/2010 will be the official release date on I-tunes and other major distribution sites.
