"Dixie Chicklets Lead Singer “Alicia Sales” bursts onto Canada’s pop/rock scene in style"

(Toronto, January 26, 2009) – Pop/rock singer Alicia Sales launched her solo career in style in front of a packed house at Toronto’s Gladstone Hotel January 21st at her Debut CD Release Party. The Haliburton native – turned Torontonian, along with her four- piece band, delivered a flawless performance of 10 original songs from her new self-titled pop/rock album.

Alicia was making the jump from lead singer of the popular Dixie Chicks tribute band “Dixie Chicklets” in her solo pop/rock debut.

Putting the audience immediately on notice that she wasn’t easing gently into Canada’s pop/rock scene, Alicia started off with a belting rendition of the emotional and gut-wrenching rock tune “Break Me”. Having caught the audience’s attention Alicia smoothly switched into the fast and lilting “Your Own Eyes,” that was followed by the slow and almost hypnotizing “Used to Be”. With the crowd fully engaged Alicia and her well oiled band continued performing each tune to perfection.

All ten original songs on Alicia’s self titled album were written by her. “This album has something for everyone in it,” said Alicia. “From humour, to laughter to sadness, I think everyone can relate in one way or another to its lyrics. Sometimes when people can’t fully express themselves with words, they can find a song that expresses better what they are feeling. They can then lean on and rely on that song to help them through whatever may be going on in their life, either positively or negatively,” added Alicia.

Well known local musicians Ryan Chalmers and Joe Arnup were on stage backing up Alicia for the exciting performance. Having already played throughout the world with the Dixie Chicklets, Alicia will be soon launching a solo tour to promote her new CD. Plans also call for her to secure a record label to help her reach the next stage. Copies of “Alicia Sales” can be purchased on her website at www.AliciaSales.com.
