Bio

Current

Alicia was recently selected to perform an official showcase at the Canadian Country Music Awards held September 2003 in Calgary. This prestigious event is for young artists that are chosen to be part of the next generation in Canadian music, and is designed to spotlight their careers to industry leaders.

In addition to gaining more exposure in Canada, 2003 has seen a massive growth in Alicia's fan club that has started a demand for her presence overseas. Alicia has secured a European Tour Deal with Deep Dive Music in Switzerland as a result, and she will journey overseas upon the completion of her album “The Reason I’m Breathing”. Additional tours are currently being negotiated with Australia and Japan.

Background

Alicia's path to becoming a songstress began at the age of 7, dancing and singing at the top of her lungs with a Mickey Mouse record player, and a "Xanadu" album. Always a quiet natured child, she credits her parents and her best friend Courtenay Brown for her start. She was continually surrounded by music and was given constant support from her family and friends. Listening to Anne Murray, Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Motown, and Pop Legends like Neil Diamond, and Billy Joel, she was inspired and she wrote her first song at the age of 10. When her parents heard her sing solo outside of church and school choir at the age of 15, they took her to the city (Vancouver, BC) immediately to record her first demo tape. After that, Alicia began to get recognition in her hometown of Kelowna, BC. She joined the Westbank Country Opry where she sang weekly with Courtenay, and she developed a love for the Judds. A slave to the stage, from Karaoke to performing at local bars, clubs, parades, and city festivals, Alicia sang wherever she had the chance to!

When she was 16 years old, she spent the rest of her high school years in Japan where she honed her vocal craft, and developed herself as a songwriter. After graduation at the age of 18, she moved to Vancouver, and got the opportunity to jam weekly with Cease and Desist. She became well known over the next few years as a net worker, as well as skillfully educated about the music business. She even managed and assisted a few other bands and artists along the way.

Alicia's talents are not restricted to the stage. She has been added to the talented group of organizers for many prominent events in and around Vancouver. She has the amazing ability to bring people and resources together for charitable and fundraising causes, and she hopes to continually devote part of her music career to fund raising.

Just a few of her previous events include runway shows for Vancouver International Fashion Week, The Onion Bash 2001 for the Carolyn Foundation, Purple Karma year 4,5, & 6 at the Purple Onion for a Loving Spoonful, The Gypsy Love Gala (Thanks to the Virtual Television network), and shows at the Vancouver Trade and Convention center. Alicia's favorite charity is The Carolyn Foundation, and she currently sits on the board of directors.
