Bio

Alicia Wiley has been blessed with a trilogy of talent and she has dedicated herself to leave a legacy amongst the greats . Composer, Keyboardist, Vocalist; once you have heard Alicia Wiley's music you will find her magnetism & charisma brings you instantly into her world of sensual Pop / Jazz / Latin and R&B music. It is not by accident or favor that this 26 Year old modern inguine has been recognized by the Minnesota Music Academy with multiple nominations and consequent Awards. "Best Self Released CD" / "Best Female Vocalist" in 2004. "Best Keyboardist / Pianist" in 2006.

All of this in a city where the artist known as Prince rules and influences pretty well everything that carry's a tune. In a male dominated city of Music, Alicia Wiley stands tall amongst the best of them all. She was recently featured on the front page of the Entertainment section of the Star Tribune lauding; "On The Verge Artist's". From Alicia to Painters to Actors to Sculpturer's. It's byline trumpeted: "Expect great things of these Minnesota artists and performers." And when you check out Alicia's previous three albums and finally hear her current works, "Halfway Home" and you happen to have the pleasure of seeing her live, as the saying goes; "You'll Get It!"

Like all great artists, their music delivers a meaningful message. Hers is thought provoking, original sounding, melodic and pretty well a work of beauty. Beauty, the powerful word which conjures up honest images that evokes everything about Alicia Wiley. She has been described as a jazz crooner with sexy, Norah Jones-ian crossover appeal and a smokey, Fiona Apple-like edge. She is just as likely to be inspired by Miles Davis and John Coltrane as she is by Bjork and Radiohead. Her ability to move deftly between pop melodies and jazz improvisation is what has critics and fans singing her praise. Wrap this all up along with a variety of soulful music influences and occasional Salsa / Spanish-inspired treats and you have a uniquely talented and inspired recording artist whose limits are unlimited.

Alicia Wiley, composer-vocalist-pianist extraordinaire. A rare gem amongst a field of dreams. An artist rich in emotional fire, gifted as a musician and doing all of the right things to ensure a timeless place within the arena of modern music.

Here's what the critics are saying:

"She describes herself as open-minded when it comes to music, enjoying everything from ballads to hip-hop. Her open minded tastes in music translate to her own sound, which doesn't fit squarely in any category."
--Plymouth Magazine (April 2007)

"...a songstress for the masses...sculpted as much by contemporary rock and pop as by bop and smooth jazz."
--Matt Peiken, St. Paul Pioneer Press

"You have to go back as far as Laura Nyro's Eli and the Thirteenth Confession for the kind of stark, haunting purity that is abundant on Alicia."
--Dwight Hobbes of Insight News (September 2007)

"...destined for fame since her fleet fingers grazed the keys at age 6."
--Courtney Lewis, Minnesota Monthly

"With a voice soft and low as a shag carpet, Wiley's soothing music will prove the perfect New Year's Day hangover cure."
--Duluth News Tribune (12/30/2004)

"ingenue Alicia Wiley writes and sings like she's "been there, done that" twice, and pulls it off with style. Think of a young Lauren Bacall more than holding her own with Humphrey Bogart."
--Mark Snow of Reader Weekly (11/04, 2004)

"Wiley was one of the musical highlights when I saw her perform at the Minnesota Music Awards earlier this month, where she won Best Female Vocalist and Best Self-Released Recording after receiving 4 nominations. Just seeing her perform once is enough to realize she deserved them all."
--How Was The Show (10/29/2004)

"Her Dark, dusky voice sprouts from a wafer-thin body and could be mistaken for Fiona Apple's. At the piano, her style and sensitibity are more often found in seasoned accompanists than in 22-year-olds hungry enough to play for a Monday dinner crowd."
--Matt Peiken of the St. Paul Pioneer Press (6/18/2004)

"There's a melancholy bliss to this world-weary angel..a waif whose voice resonates in those hidden places where love and pain share the same space. She is a conjurer who impishly reveals the secrets of the human heart."
--Robyne Robinson, Fox 9 news

"With a voice soft and low as a shag carpet, Wiley's soothing music will prove the perfect New Year's Day hangover cure."
--Duluth News Tribune (12/30/2004)
