ALIF : New music project 2013
Hamid Gribi, proposes the name of "ALIF" for this new creation, which confirms artistic directions taken
by Gribi Quartet, "ALIF" symbolizes the heart of the artistic project and a fundamental stage in the
development of the collective.
Here the diversity of the musical cultural influences sends back to a unity( in the music, the shape of
universality of language in which every musician finds himself. The music becomes unique, it does not
join any more in a particular cultural membership, it becomes a universal language which allows the
traditional said music to live in the sound of today. Placed outside its geographical context, it is not any
more necessary question to speak about tradition, but about alive music which builds itself on the
crossroads of the meeting.
To the menu we find: 4 voices among which two Leads, Gumbri, Algerian Mandole lute, Guitar, Kalimba,
Kora, Harmonium, mixed Percussions (Ethno set up percussions: black mixture of percussion instruments
and batteries(drum kits) of Africa, the Maghreb and diverse percussives finds with Charley etc.).
