Bio
Ali Hassan is the Lead Comedy Panelist every evening on the George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight show on CBC Television. He has also been featured on CBC Radio’s Laugh Out Loud and The Debaters.
His hosting talents have helped ensure the success of many great live shows and comedy tours like We Aint Terrorists, Legends in the Making and Colors of Comedy. In 2008, Ali was invited to perform at the first-ever comedy festival to take place in the Middle East – the Amman Stand-Up Comedy Festival.
His strong performance opening for Russell Peters there led to a 2nd invitation to the festival in 2009 and also earned him a spot on the Canadian leg of Maz Jobrani’s Brown & Friendly tour and the hosting job on the Arabs Gone Wild comedy tour.
In 2012 Ali was invited to perform at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and Toronto’s JFL42. In 2011 he starred in the films French Immersion and Breakaway and most recently he appeared as the Lebanese "Uncle Stevie" opposite Seann William Scott, Jay Baruchel and Eugene Levy in the hockey hit GOON.
