Bio
The Bosnian war was a time and place where you either got tough or died. Ali King is from that time and place. Arriving in Canada, he brought three things - his family, his heritage, and a sense of storytelling with an edge crafted by danger, violence and urgency.
After flirting with a career in law enforcement, Ali King was drawn to the gang life that is readily found in streets of West Toronto. He started writing songs and freestyling while taking steps towards the dream of a better life. It wasn’t long before he was picked up by a talent agency which represented the launch of his career. In no time, he was recording songs like “Livno City” that resonated with the people in his home city. Fueled by the popularity of his first hit, "Sexy Lady" and the accompanying video which to date has over a million views, he became a celebrity as magazines, radio and television followed his successes.
Within the year, Ali King generated a huge on-line following. He had a big hit with a song called “Vendi”, supported by famous Balkan folk singer Ekrem Jevric, which got hundreds of thousands of YouTube views on its own and gained him many fans. Ali King has also become a part of one of the Balkan’s biggest hip-hop crews, called the "FREE SIDE CREW", based in Travnik, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
His videos, his wallpapers and ringtones are downloaded on a daily basis. Clearly, many are awaiting Ali King’s first full-length album, scheduled for international release this year, to be called "Svaki Dan Jaci." (“Every Day Stronger”) - an appropriate title for Ali King’s journey from war to freedom, and from gang life to the international hip-hop stage.
