Bio
Alison Avron is a singer, songwriter and piano player who will engage you instantly with her vivacious, eclectic and magnetic personality on and off the stage.
Alison started her musical journey at a young age in the rural town of Glencoe, South Australia. She decided to move to the buzz and grooves of Sydney’s music scene, where she released in October 2011, her debut EP “Wrong Notes & Anecdotes”. It was recorded and produced by Richard Belkner at Free Energy Device Studios. The 4 track EP is already getting some interesting national and international appreciations (Italy, Germany), thanks to its joyful, catchy and sunny sound.
Alison Avron writes songs of love and relationships. Her unmistakably strong voice empowers her to take herself seriously if she wants, writing sweet and dark compositions and yet, allows her to have fun all at the same time, adding cheeky and ironic songs to her repertoire. She is influenced by 70’s glam rock, folk and pop and inspired by such artists as Kate Miller-Heidke, Supertramp and SIA. Alison has sung alongside Mahalia Barnes, Elana Stone, Abby Dobson, Kamahl, and triple ARIA award winning band, Monsieur Camembert.
Alison Avron is also well known for her creative space, The Newsagency, dedicated to encouraging and inspiring Sydney’s inner west community through intimate shows from other artists. This quirky soul-pop performer is in every sense of the word an Australian independent musician.
2012 has begun with her first national tour that saw her playing successful shows at The Jade Monkey in Adelaide, The Old Gaol in Mount Gambier and The Wesley Anne in Melbourne.
Slightly manic yet completely loveable, witty and nonchalant you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone like Alison Avron.
