Aliya Leigh

Aliya Leigh is an eccentric, hard working writer, producer, editor and online web show host, born in Rosedale, New York on April 19, 1976. Raised in a religious African-American and Native American home, by her father an engineer, and mother an English professor. Aliya Leigh didn’t have it easy growing up her school peers would make fun of her often for her language and hearing disabilities, which took a toll on her spirit. Yet, her parents helped her discover a talent to be proud of through playing the piano. Aliya played the piano well, and well enough to perform at colleges, concerts, and events including one held at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. Whilst getting into her teenage years, she realized that she was “different”, and had a greater attraction for the same sex, which conflicted with her family’s religious values and beliefs. Upon realizing her sexuality, she became depressed and felt unworthy of living out her dreams.
Aliya witnessed her aunt go through so much, coming out as a lesbian to her family, and it prompted Aliya to think not to put her family though the same. She became very influence by poet and writer Edgar Allan Poe. During this time, Aliya’s parents decided to put her through therapy, to deal with the emotional issues she was going through.

Aliya Leigh works as a producer, writer, editor and host of her own podcast entitled "Lesbian Life." The online podcast is about current affairs happening and affecting the lesbian community globally.

Aliya writes and edits film and television scripts, as well as young adult horror, suspense and thriller novels. She is a skateboard designer for the Puzzle Me line.

Aliya Leigh owns Striving For Pi, LLC; which is a Production and Publishing company. Striving For Pi, LLC resources will be dedicated to independent films, web shows and graphic novels.
She is a trustee of the National Writer's Union, on the Board of Directors of AZWIT and an active member of ASCAP.
