By 1988, John Allen and his band had become a dominant force in the southeastern U.S. region, and were opening for such acts Warrant, Steel Heart, Mr. Big, and Cheap Trick to name a few.

Relocating to Nashville, Tennessee in 2008, John Allen and his new band consisting of Brad Ruthven from Trick Pony on guitar, Brian Nelson from Trick Pony on drums, Tim Mc Donald on Keys, and Elio Germano from The Hank Sinatra Band on bass continue to score with new fans with his high energy show, while defying the logic of the music industry that younger crowds will not respond to men in their thirties singing on themes of younger generations.
